“But I do have to take this opportunity to say that, for me, I have really struggled with the decision to do that project for a long time.”
She continued as to how her decision affected her in a huge way but she eventually decided to move forward.
“Honestly, it’s the decision that I have made in my life that is the most inconsistent with everything I stand for and believe in, both publicly and privately. And while I can’t take it back, it’s important to me, moving forward, to make decisions that better reflect the things that I value and my worldview.”
Allen’s daughter, Dylan Farrow accused him of s*xually assaulting her when she was seven years old. After the case became public, the DC star was one of the personalities who distanced herself from him at the time, however, Allen’s friend, Scarlett Johansson was quite on the other side.
Scarlett Johansson Defended Woody Allen Despite The Accusations
The MCU star met the director while working on one of her best projects, Match Point, which became the stepping stone of their friendship. She has always held Allen in high regard and had nothing but great words for the latter. When Allen was surrounded by the allegations of s-xual abuse, Johansson went on to defend her friend, which only backfired on her.
At the time, she shared, “I love Woody. I believe him, and I would work with him anytime.”
When the criticism went on to quite an extreme, she clarified her statement by sharing it with Variety,
“I don’t know – I feel the way I feel about it. It’s my experience. I don’t know any more than any other person knows. I only have a close proximity with Woody…he’s a friend of mine. But I have no other insight other than my relationship with him.”
Other than the 2005 film, the duo has worked in 2006’s Scoop and 2008’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Since then, the duo never collaborated but kept each other in high regard.
Meanwhile, Crisis in Six Scenes is available on Amazon Prime Video.
