Jason Momoa’s DC character Aquaman is the new addition to the list of actors who have lost their superhero role in DC but Momoa’s story looks a little different as the Frontier star is losing his old character from one hand, but gaining a new character from the other hand.

The Game of Thrones actor who is well known for his role in Aquaman in the DC universe is most likely to exit the DCU to re-enter as a new character. It is not a hidden fact that the DCU is undergoing multiple changes ranging from the replacement of top executives to popular superheroes. In this ongoing ever-lasting change in the DC world, Aquaman is more likely to be lost soon.

What Will Happen to Jason Momoa’s Aquaman

As the announcements of the next Aquaman movie titled Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom have already been made, it looks like it will be the very last time fans will see Momoa reprising his superhero character. Even though the first installment of Aquaman released in 2018 was a success, it seems like new co-CEO James Gunn has decided to end the movies of Aquaman altogether with its second and last installment expected to release in 2023.

Jason Momoa to Get Recast as Lobo

Reportedly the makers have decided to recast the See star as a new character, who will be playing a major antagonist named Lobo. Lobo is the anti-hero in the DCU who is an alien from the utopian planet and can be seen in comics, clashing with Superman. Though Gunn in a statement made it clear that nothing has been decided yet. The very decision of Momoa’s recast as a new character can seem to change the entire dynamics of the future of DCU.

Despite the uncertainty that surrounds the new character of Jason Momoa, some fans are excited to see Aquaman star as Lobo, while others are furious. The character of Lobo enjoyed the popularity of being a grim and gritty character during his stay in comics. The famous bounty hunter in DC looks like a promising character to carry forth Momoa’s future in DC. Though Momoa will be seen one last time reprising the role of King of Atlantis in the upcoming movie Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom which is set for release on December 25, 2023.
