The Phase 4 curse of the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to grow further as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania received thousands of terrible reviews. With Jonathan Majors’s Kang set as the antagonist of the story against a backdrop of the quantum world, the people held in awe and shock at the ratings and falling numbers for the MCU’s latest release.
Against the heavy backlash that the movie received, Jeff Loveness talked about writing for Jonathan Majors’s character of Kang. Tagging Majors as one of the young exciting actors, Jeff Loveness feels nothing but grateful for being a writer of the upcoming movies.
Jeff Loveness Calls Jonathan Majors As One of The Greatest
After gaining a record low of 48% on Rotten Tomatoes, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania suffered a terrible loss after being hailed as one of the worst that the MCU had to offer. With a screenplay by Jeff Loveness and an emphasis on Jonathan Majors’s character of Kang, the Phase 5 movie seemed to lack something.
Ignoring the backlash, however, Jeff Loveness talked about his admiration and respect for the Creed III actor. Stating him as one of the young and exciting actors, Loveness felt grateful and confident in showcasing Majors’ versatility and passion through the lens of Kang the Conqueror. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jeff Loveness talked about Ant-Man 3 and the upcoming Avengers movies that will feature Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror.
“We’ve got a plan and we’ve got a story, but the goal right now, without giving too much away, is to show the true versatility and passion that Jonathan Majors has. I truly feel like I’m the luckiest guy in the world because I get to write for the most exciting young actor that I’ve seen in a long, long time. The big answer is that Kang is a legion. So let’s see what that legion is like, and let’s get great character performances from the best actor around right now.”
After being hired by Marvel, Jeff Loveness didn’t really know what to expect. The screenplay artist revealed that it was just a giant empty canvas that he had to fill with the quantum realm and Kang the Conqueror along with Paul Rudd’s typical comedic relief.
Jeff Loveness Reveleas The Loveness Cut!
As revealed earlier, the backlash that Marvel seems to be receiving is quite intense to bear. Writer Jeff Loveness, who is also working on Avengers: Kang Dynasty revealed that there were some scenes cut from the movie which would have given a new take on the Multiverse in the MCU.
“I really love the movie that’s out in theaters, but there was a bit more. There was Hope’s perspective on the multiverse as well, and possibility, and things like that. So you never know what might come back around in an Avengers movie down the road, but I can’t say too much more. I’m happy with what we have, but there’s always something on the side for the three-hour Loveness cut. Maybe you’ll see it one day.”
Although told in good humor, the people would like to see a change for a bit as many have now started calling the MCU the Mid-tier Cinematic Universe. With a runtime of 125 minutes, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and Jonathan Majors, is currently running in theaters around the world.
