Not Vecna, This Stranger Things Intense Scene Left Millie Bobby Brown’s Co-star Absolutely Terrified Despite Multiple Rehearsals

The fourth season of the Millie Bobby Brown-led sci-fi horror series Stranger Things (2016-present) was unanimously loved by fans. With the introduction of the already iconic villain Vecna and the various time-jumping narratives that kept viewers on the edge of their seats, this season proved to be the very ambitious direction, the series had to offer so far. Talking to MTV News about the scenes that scared them the most, Millie Bobby Brown and Noah Schnapp talked about specific scenes. Interestingly, Schnapp pointed out a particular scene in Episode 4 where his character Will, Jonathan played by Charlie Heaton, and Mike played by Finn Wolfhard are hunted by a group of armed men. He applauded the use of practical effects that made the set and the scene real and authentic. He said,

“We were running through the house, and the whole day we rehearsed the scene without the bullets [blanks] or any of the action of it,…So on the first take they did it was with all the bullets and all the glass breaking and the whole house breaking down. Right on the first take I felt that raw fear”

His co-star Charlie Heaton also applauded Schnapp’s performance and the realism that the scene bought in an interview from GQ. He said that “The faces that he has in this whole sequence I think was him genuinely being terrified. Safely terrified.” The intensity that the characters portrayed seem to come from a real fear that the actors themselves felt while shooting the sequence.

Considering the use of the most practical sets, costumes, and prosthetics for the series, it is logical to assume that the actors would feel a certain level of realism and authenticity to whatever is going on in a scene. For an action sequence shot in a practical way, the intensity will be high, as actors have to deliver on both the emotional and thrilling aspects of the scene. It can come naturally as the realistic-looking sets and the environment around them help the actors to feel and connect to whatever is happening in the scene and their acting will just be their pure raw emotion at that moment in time.
