Renowned actors Diane Keaton and Michael Douglas shared the screen for the first time for the 2014 romantic comedy And So It Goes. Though the actors just collaborated once, the film has given them enormous memories. Keaton once shared with a news outlet about her bond with Douglas.
The actress shared that, though they met for the first time, they connected instantly. Talking about their intimate scene in the movie, Keaton asserted that she was impressed and startled at the same time when they shared their first on-screen kiss.
Michael Douglas surprised Diane Keaton with an intense kiss
Diane Keaton and Michael Douglas have individually appeared in many films throughout their careers. So it’s obvious that they have enough experience with romantic scenes. Hence, sharing their first onscreen kiss together wouldn’t have been awkward for them. Though it wasn’t strange, Keaton was certainly startled after kissing Douglas.
Previously, during her appearance on The Ellen Show, the actress described her experience of filming a romantic scene with Douglas. Keaton compared Douglas to a pitbull, as he was that fierce while kissing her. The actress said,
“What was exciting about him he was sort of like a pit bull. He kind of attacked me…I was acting sort of cautious, but in my heart of hearts, I felt the same about him and I wanted to just get right with it. So it worked out very well for the scene, but I enjoyed it.”
Earlier, the Annie Hall star jokingly admitted that she likes kissing her male co-stars because kissing someone for the demands of the scene won’t land her in any emotional trouble. The actress said, “Think of all the men you get to kiss and you don’t have to pay the price.”
Keaton and Douglas appeared together for the first time in the film And So It Goes, yet their chemistry was commendable.
Diane Keaton and Michael Douglas had a great off-screen bond
Diane Keaton and Michael Douglas have been a part of the film industry for several years, but surprisingly, the actors didn’t cross paths until they were cast in the 2014 film And So It Goes. Keaton once shared with a news outlet,
“You know, you have this sense that there is a community out there, but there really isn’t a community out there – or anywhere in terms of show business. Or maybe in New York there is because [of] theater. Maybe the theatrical world is more unified, but in California it’s very isolated. There are pockets, little tiny, pockets like that, but basically, no. No. I met him once I think.”
The actress asserted that she got to know Douglas while filming And So It Goes. Yet the actors instantly created a bond. The actress shared that she enjoyed working with Douglas, as she often used to playfully tease him. Interestingly, Douglas had no objection to it, as according to Keaton, he enjoyed the teasing. Keaton once shared during an interview,
“Oh, I just told him he was a big jerk all the time. You know, rich guy? Big deal! Who are you? And he loved it. He ate it up and so I knew how to get him. It was really fun. So I knew that we could get the scene going by me torturing him. And he was great at it because he’s better; he’s funnier than me. We got a little thing going and it made it really work in the movie. You know, you really want to know who you’re acting with.”
Their off-screen bond made it a fun shoot for both of them.
