Daniel Radcliffe is now a father. Only some time ago, he was on the silver screen portraying the world’s cheekiest and most beloved wizard, Harry Potter, in the billion-dollar franchise. Well, time sure does move fast and Radcliffe has been feeling the rush of it lately.
As a young and first-time parent, the Harry Potter star is adamant about not missing out on his child’s early years and has been facing a difficult choice. While he does not want to take a break per se, the actor has been trying to slow down so that he gets to spend more time with his long-time girlfriend and child.
Daniel Radcliffe On Becoming A Father
Being a parent changes everyone and is the most exciting time of their life. And that is exactly how Daniel Radcliffe has been feeling. The Miracle Workers’ star welcomed his first child in April this year with his girlfriend of ten years, Erin Drake. Talking about his girlfriend and newborn child, he happily revealed that he is a proud dad of a boy!
“It’s great. It’s crazy and intense, but he’s wonderful and Erin is amazing — it’s a real privilege also to have this time with him,”
And the Harry Potter star hopes to have as much time as he can muster with his son and partner. Continuing on, he expressed how he has taken some time off to enjoy the moment.
“I was always going to take some time off, which not everyone is able to do, and so I’m able to kind of just be here with him a lot, which is lovely. So, we’re having a great time.”
After the intense Harry Potter fame and spending all of his formative teenage years on the sets, Daniel Radcliffe finally seems to have found a great place to be in his personal life.
Despite Being Elated, Daniel Radcliffe Forced To Make A Harsh Career Choice
After welcoming his first child, the Victor Frankenstein actor has been facing a difficult career choice. On one hand, he wants to spend all of his time with his son and girlfriend, and on the other, he has an established and successful career that he doesn’t really want to take a break from.
Talking about how becoming a father would affect his career choices, Daniel Radcliffe said,
“I think it certainly will. It hasn’t really yet affected things, but I really like spending time with him, and I think I’m gonna miss him when I go back to work later in the year. So, I will definitely be I think a bit more selective — not more selective, I’ve always been selective, but I think I’ll probably work a little bit less for the next few years. I’ll never be stopping. I don’t think that’s good for me either.”
While he has no plans of stopping any time soon, the talented actor has been busy with the fourth season of the popular anthology Miracle Workers, which will premiere on July 10 on TBS.
