“I don’t love the movie”: Charlie Cox Had A Scathing Criticism For Ben Affleck’s Daredevil Despite Claiming He Loved His Acting

Charlie Cox Had A Scathing Criticism For Ben Affleck’s Daredevil Despite Claiming He Loved His Acting

Although an actor for more than two decades now, Charlie Cox is especially renowned for his hit three seasons Netflix series, Daredevil. In fact, the 40-year-old star is the current hotshot in Hollywood following the same. So much so, that after his remarkable performance as MCU’s famous character of Matt Murdock on-screen, Marvel fans just can’t imagine anyone else playing the character in a better and more remarkable way.

That being said, even Cox seems to be of the same opinion, keeping his scathing criticism of Ben Affleck’s solo 2003 version of Daredevil in mind, although he also went on to claim that he loved the latter’s acting as well.

Charlie Cox is the new fan-favorite for playing the beloved MCU character of Matt Murdock aka the Daredevil. But before him, other actors played the infamously devilish comic book character as well, and this list includes the Batman portrayer from the Snyderverse, Ben Affleck.

Though Affleck’s 2003 version of Daredevil was the first solo movie of the character to ever be made, it wasn’t received all too nicely by audiences worldwide. And same was the opinion of the current Murdock portrayer, as per his response to whether he found the movie connecting to him in any way.

“Well… I watched it once and then… I wanted to go and do my own thing.”

That sounds just right, keeping fans’ reviews for the same in mind. Continuing, he let out what he actually hated about the movie.

“I don’t love the movie… I feel like the movie tried to do too much and it was a little tonally confused. They had everyone in that movie, they had Kingpin, they had Bullseye, they had Elektra, they had Karen Page, they had Foggy. It was saturated and it’s two hours. So that was part of the problem. And the suit sucks!”

Yet, while Charlie Cox hated the Ben Affleck starrer solo movie on the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, he did applaud the Batman star for his remarkable portrayal of the character.

Although Charlie Cox had scathing criticism for the first-ever solo movie Daredevil on the one hand, he was full of praise for the incredible way that Ben Affleck played the famous Masked Man on the other hand. Sharing how he watched the movie after he got the chance to play Matt Murdock on the big screens, Cox said,

“No, after I got the role. I hadn’t seen it before I got the role. I watched it when I got the role and, to be fair… I think Ben Affleck does a really good Matt Murdock, I like his Matt Murdock.”

Regardless, though no one really liked the Affleck starrer solo Daredevil movie, Charlie Cox seems to have been turning the tables with his own game-changing depiction of the devilish comic book character, considering his hit Netflix series Daredevil as well as his upcoming television series, Daredevil: Born Again, that it set to be released on Disney+ by Spring 2024.

As for Ben Affleck’s Daredevil, you can watch it on Vudu.
