In recent times, there have been only a few stars in the industry that have won over the hearts of the audience as much as Chris Hemsworth has with his performances. From playing the role of his most iconic MCU character, the God of Thunder Thor, to playing several other roles in many standalone films and other large franchises, there is no denying the fact that the star has made an impact on his fans.
Thus, when it comes to people finding out about the projects that he had done apart from his role in the MCU, they are not surprised to find out that most of them are blockbusters in their own rights as well. But only a handful of people might know about how he got one of his biggest roles alongside Charlize Theron due to the fact that another star didn’t want to take it.
How Chris Hemsworth Got The Role Of The Huntsman From Viggo Mortensen
While there have been many roles that Chris Hemsworth had taken over the years, the role of The Huntsman might just be one of the biggest roles he had taken in his career apart from the Prince of Asgrad for Marvel Studios. The reason being that the film was one of the biggest blockbusters of his career that was not an MCU film, and also because he was extremely lucky to get the role because of Viggo Mortensen.

Mortensen, who is infamous for turing down many of the roles that he is offered, once again did the usual of not taking on the role of The Huntsman in Snow White and The Huntsman that cast Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron because he was not impressed by the original script, as well as the fact that it was a huge diversion from the original, which further dissuaded him form picking the role. Along with this, the main focus was given to The Wicked Witch who was played by Charlize Theron was also a turn-off for The Green Book star. He said:
“When they offered [the movie] to me, it was a different story and seemed more justified to be called Snow White and the Huntsman. The movie they ended up making should have been called Snow White and the Wicked Witch,”
But later, the script was radically changed to make the plot a grim and dark tale that was way different than the original, which became a boosting board for Hemsworth’s career even more.

What The Future Holds For Chris Hemsworth
While there is no doubt that the Spiderhead star will return as Thor in the MCU in the future, many believe that those appearances might be numbered. After his recent medical diagnosis, it was found that the star is at risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease, which might be the cause of his retirement and disassociation from Hollywood in the future. But despite knowing this everyone is glad that the star is in no immediate danger, and can still carry on his career as he gears up for many more superhits in the future.
