Director Andrew Davis could not believe Harrison Ford was injured

A Perfect Murder director Andrew Davis has numerous superhit films credited to his name. One among them is Harrison Ford’s 1993 film, The Fugitive. The film was a commercial success and is one of the iconic films of the 90s era.

In an interview with The A.V. Club, the director was asked about an incident in his film with Harrison Ford. He was asked about the actor’s injury while shooting in North Carolina. The interviewer asked,

“Did you think, ‘We’re screwed’ or ‘Hey, this could actually work for the character’?”

The director replied,

“I didn’t realize how serious it was. He’s hurt himself a lot in movies. He’s twisted ankles and gotten banged around, things like that. It didn’t really jump out to me until the City Hall sequence, when he’s running through City Hall, and being chased by Tommy Lee. You see him limping off, and that’s real. That’s a real limp, but it didn’t affect the production at all.”

The film was nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and Tommy Lee Jones won the Best Supporting Actor award.

Harrison Ford’s commercial hit The Fugitive

The Fugitive was a 1993 action thriller film directed by Andrew Davis. It was based on Roy Huggins’ 1960s television series of the same name. The star cast included Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones, Sela Ward, Joe Pantoliano, Andreas Katsulas, and Jeroen Krabbé. The screenplay was by David Twohy and Jeb Stuart. The story was written by Twohy.

The plot of the film revolves around Dr. Richard Kimble (played by Harrison Ford), a vascular surgeon. He gets framed for the murder of his wife and sentenced to death. He escaped from police custody after a bus crash and decided to find the killer to clear his name. The police and U.S. Marshals were after him. 

The film was a box office hit and became the third-highest-grossing movie of that year. It grossed nearly $370 million worldwide against a budget of $44 million.
