After starting his career as an edgy standup comedian and earning immense success in the field of comedy, Richard Belzer soon went on to cement his name in Hollywood through his portrayal of John Munch. And after the unfortunate demise of the actor, an old clip from his early talk show has found its way to the internet.
Even before grabbing the role of John Munch in the popular TV shows, Homicide: Life on the Street and Law and Order: SVU, the actor once came too close to losing his life at the hands of the WWE legend. During Belzer’s time on Hot Properties, the actor was left unconscious and injured after Hulk Hogan went on to display his brute force.

After the unfortunate demise of the Law and Order: SVU actor, an old clip from the 80’s Talk show, Hot Properties, has found its way to the internet, where Richard Belzer was close to losing his life. During his short-lived time on the Talk Show, WWF (now known as WWE) superstars, including Hulk Hogan and Mr. T arrived as guests on the show to promote the inaugural WrestleMania pay-per-view.
In a controversial moment, Hogan went on to prove the legitimacy of wrestling to the comedian by holding him in a front chin lock, which knocked him unconscious and he fell on the floor. Later the actor went on to express his distaste for Hogan’s action, as he clarified that he could have been dead by that move.
Richard Belzer didn’t lose his charm even in his final moments
The beloved comedian and star of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Richard Belzer, died last Sunday at his home in Bozouls, southwest France, at the age of 78. The actor was reportedly suffering from many illnesses but amidst the suffering, the actor didn’t lose his charm, as the actor’s final words left his friend astonished. Writer Bill Scheft stated,

After the unfortunate passing of the beloved actor, many fans are mourning his death and paying tribute to the legendary actor. But amidst the news of Belzer’s death, a controversial video from the 80s has resurfaced on the internet, in which Belzer was close to his very early demise.
Following the incident, Richard Belzer went on to sue Mr. T, Vince McMahon, and Hulk Hogan for the Wrestler’s reckless action, which could have caused a life-threatening injury to the Law and Order: SVU actor. And eventually, Belzer received a whopping $4 million in the 1990 settlement.
