Yennefer of Vengerberg actor Anya Chalotra spoke to Vulture about her favorite scene from the show with Cavill. The 27-year-old recalled a scene from season 3 which was most emblematic of what it was like working with [Cavill]. The scene she chose was not a fight scene, instead, it was a light-hearted scene,

“There’s a scene in the woods with all four of us. I couldn’t wait to film it because I loved that moment in the books. Jaskier and Ciri are mimicking us as we argue far away. We had to improvise an argument, and we didn’t get anything out. We just laughed the whole time. I don’t know how they managed to put that together in the edit because it was coming to the end of the night, or rather the morning, and we just couldn’t stop laughing. We were just saying gobbledygook.”

The scene was in episode 4 of season 3 of The Witcher and was a special scene, as it was the final season for Cavill. The gibberish between the two actors made the scene interesting and memorable.

Henry Cavill’s action scenes in The Witcher

As the third season of The Witcher comes to an end the Man of Steel star bid adieu to his character, Geralt of Rivia. The actor took up the role five years ago and owned the character. It is based on The Witcher book series by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. The Witcher focused on the legend of Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Princess Ciri. It starred actors Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, and Freya Allan.

Henry Cavill remarkably played the role of a monster hunter in the series, for which he learned sword fighting and did all his stunts. The star’s commitment to his character also leads to a few severe injuries to Cavill.

By the time filming for the third season began, Cavill had become an unofficial stunt coordinator of the show. He performed all the stunts on his own and also helped in the preparation of the action choreography. The habit of pushing himself to exceed limitations also led to a severe injury to the actor.

The actor tore his hamstring while sprinting through the forest during a shoot in season 2. He shared with The Hollywood Reporter,

“It was a very, very bad tear, and I was very lucky that it wasn’t a complete detachment of the hamstring.”

Henry Cavill recalled,

“The difficulty was working while I was injured. Because I wanted to do more for the production — I know how important it was for them to get stuff done. So it was having to find that balance between, ‘Yes, let’s push, push, push,’ and, ‘Whoa, hold on if I tear this further, it’s the end of my action career.’ That was my worst moment of the past year — professionally.”

The star’s penchant for going beyond limits physically was also seen in Geralt’s action scenes in season 3 of the show.

The Witcher is streaming on Netflix.
