Amy Schumer Isn’t Bothered By How Her Body Looks
In her stand-up performances, Amy Schumer frequently employs self-deprecating humor that revolves around her body weight. She is fully aware that she doesn’t conform to the Hollywood standard of an “ideal” body type for women, but she has made it abundantly clear that she is completely unfazed by societal expectations. Indeed, during her acceptance of the Glamour Trailblazer Award in 2015, Schumer fearlessly confronted the topic of her weight.
“I’m probably like 160 pounds right now and I can still catch a d**k whenever I want.”
Schumer has not shied away from discussing the issue of online trolls who target women based on their weight and appearance. During her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2017, Schumer sarcastically highlighted the irony, saying,
“We’re so blessed with the internet that people give you constant feedback on your looks.”
In typical Amy Schumer fashion, the comedian didn’t hesitate to make light of a specific instance where someone compared her body to mashed potatoes. Instead of getting upset, Schumer found humor in the situation and quipped that the only effect the troll had was making her crave mashed potatoes.
Amy Schumer Was In The Running For Lead Role In Barbie
Amy Schumer was initially set to take on the lead role in the Barbie movie, a project that was under the control of Sony Pictures at the time. The studio had enlisted Schumer to star in the film, which was to feature a screenplay and an original concept by Hilary Winston. Schumer and her sister Kim Caramele were also slated to work on rewrites for the script.
However, Schumer’s involvement with the movie was short-lived, as she decided to depart from the project just a few months after initially signing on. Eventually, Margot Robbie joined the film and brought in Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach to work on the screenplay.
When Amy Schumer left the Barbie movie, she cited “scheduling conflicts” as the reason behind her departure, as reported by the media at the time.
