Tessa Thompson, who plays Valkyrie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently spoke about her character’s fighting abilities and potential to defeat the newest big bad, Kang the Conqueror. Fans have eagerly anticipated a showdown between the two characters, as they are both powerhouses in their own right. But can Valkyrie really take down a warlord who literally plays with time?
Thompson’s Belief in Valkyrie’s Fighting Abilities
During a recent interview on BIG SCREEN LITTLE SCREEN about the upcoming Creed 3 film, where Thompson will co-star alongside Jonathan Majors and Michael B. Jordan, the actress shared her thoughts on Valkyrie’s fighting abilities and her potential to take down Kang.
Thompson was asked if there was a moment during the film’s production where she wanted to take out her on-screen opponent, to which she replied that she could not due to the possibility of a crossover with the MCU, adding that if the chance ever came, she believed Valkyrie could take down Kang.
“No… I know also because he’s Kang in the MCU, so I don’t know if there’ll be a crossover at some point, and I actually have my chance to take him out. I believe [Valkyrie] could.”
Thompson’s belief in Valkyrie’s fighting abilities is not unfounded. In the comics, Valkyrie is a powerful warrior with incredible physical strength, agility, and mastery of various weapons. As an Asgardian, she has superhuman abilities, including speed, durability, and healing abilities.
Valkyrie’s fighting prowess was fully displayed in Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder, where she single-handedly took down hordes of enemies with her sword and spear. If she were to face Kang, Valkyrie’s physical prowess and mastery of weapons would give her a fighting chance.
Despite Valkyrie’s impressive fighting abilities, Kang the Conqueror is a formidable foe. In the comics, Kang is a time-traveling warlord from the future who possesses advanced technology and is a skilled fighter. He has conquered countless civilizations and timelines, and his control over time gives him a significant advantage in battle.
Can Valkyrie Take Down Kang?
In the MCU, Kang debuted in the recent Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. Although it is yet to be seen how else his character will be portrayed in the upcoming MCU films, with what fans have seen in Ant-Man 3, it is safe to assume that he will be a force to be reckoned with.
It would be a close battle if Valkyrie faced Kang one-on-one. On the one hand, Valkyrie has superhuman strength, agility, and mastery of various weapons. On the other hand, Kang has advanced technology and time-manipulating abilities that could give him the upper hand.
However, it’s important to note that the MCU often portrays its characters as working in teams, and Valkyrie would likely fare better if she had help. As a member of the Avengers, Valkyrie has proven that she works well with others and can take on even the most formidable foes.
Moreover, the MCU has a history of empowering female characters, and Valkyrie is no exception.
