Even before Logan got an R-rating in the X-Men universe, X-Men Origins: Wolverine did come close to surpassing the PG-13 barrier back in 2009. Although the movie doesn’t hold a candle to the James Mangold-led Logan, Hugh Jackman did go on to showcase his commitment to the role, as he didn’t have any problem going completely n-ked during the 2009- film.
Although it didn’t make it to the final cut for obvious reasons, his commitment to do the film didn’t go in vain, as director Gavin Hood gifted him a memorable present, which included film cut-offs of p-nis.
Hugh Jackman’s commitment to go n-de didn’t go in vain
During his escape sequence from the Weapon X facility, after adamantium was grafted to his skeleton, Hugh Jackman had to go n-ked for the scene. But the actor had problems going full n-de in order to pull off the scene perfectly, and even when asked if he’d like to wear a cover for his private area, Jackman refused stating, “It’s just like college.”
Although there were certain scenes where everyone could see the actor’s p-nis, he told Howard Stern that those scenes didn’t make it out of the editing room following the PG-13 rating. However, his effort didn’t go in vain, as Gavin Hood gifted him a bag full of all the film cut-offs of his p-nis.
“When we finished the film, my wrap gift from the director [Gavin Hood] was a bag which had all the film cut off with my dick in it, ” Jackman said. “So, I got frames of film, and I am looking, going, ‘OK, hello!’”
But despite the fun they had filming this installment in the X-Men universe, the movie failed to leave up to the expectations while also failing to get Ryan Reynolds right as Deadpool.
Ryan Reynolds playfully blames Hugh Jackman for X-Men Origins‘ failure
Before becoming one of the most beloved actors in the Superhero realms through the Deadpool movies, Ryan Reynolds‘ initial introduction to the character was an absolute trainwreck. Following Reynold’s bromance with Jackman, who doesn’t back away from poking fun at each other, the Deadpool star playfully put the blame for X-Men Origins: Wolverine‘s failure on Hugh Jackman. He said,
“Everyone’s expecting me to eviscerate Hugh Jackman but I will say he was one of the first movie stars I ever worked with, back in 2007, on an absolute trash fire called ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ — that one was on him.”
But fans will hope the upcoming Deadpool threequel will get the dynamic between Wade Wilson and Wolverine right unlike the disaster that X-Men Origins: Wolverine was.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is available to stream on Disney Plus.
