Danny Boyle Talks about Threequel 28 Months Later
The director of the 2002 film 28 Days Later, Danny Boyle, said that he has thoughts of a third movie in the series. The director announced the news after the release of the 2007 sequel, 28 Weeks Later. He also said that the film would be titled 28 Months Later.
However, followed by his announcement in 2007, the director shared some doubts about the movie in 2013. In April 2013, he said, “It’s 40/60 whether [a sequel] happens or not. But we did have an idea of where to set it and what it might be about.”
Although Boyle had some doubts about making the movie, he continued his work for 28 Months Later. In his recent interview with NME, the English director talked about how he and Alex Garland have been working on 28 Months Later.
Talking about 28 Months Later Boyle said, “I’d be very tempted [to direct it]. It feels like a very good time actually. It’s funny, I hadn’t thought about it until you just said it.”
He also shared that Alex Garland planned 28 Months Later a couple of years later with a lovely idea at the center of it. He also said that he loved the idea, which was again set in England.
Cillian Murphy Says 28 Days Later Opened Doors For Him
Cillian Murphy struggled to get films before 28 Days Later and appeared mostly in short films. He said that the 2002 film opened doors for him. “It opened doors for me,” said Murphy in his interview with NME.
The Dunkirk star also shared that after the film, he managed to get meetings and even met Christopher Nolan. He further said that it was really massive for him. Murphy also shared that he had a hard time with the English accent while he audition for the role.
“Jim was written as English – and I was doing a terrible London accent [in the audition],” the Inception star said, “It wasn’t really connecting, but Danny kept asking me back, which was really nice.” he continued.
