Following the fans’ backlash over Rowling’s involvement, Casey Bloys, Chairman & CEO of HBO & HBO Max Content (which is set to be rebranded as Max) went on to deflect the situation. After being asked about their viewpoints on the situation and Rowling’s controversial past, Bloys declined to comment and stressed the importance of Rowling’s inclusion for the quality of the show. He said,
“J.K. is an executive producer, and her insights will be helpful. We are in the Harry Potter business. The TV show is new and exciting, but we’ve been in the Harry Potter business for 20 years; this isn’t a new decision. J.K. is a very online conversation … it’s very nuanced and complicated and not something we’re going to get into. Our priority is what’s onscreen.”
However, considering that the management is adamant about recreating the magic of the original books and movies on the TV medium. Fans will be hoping that the upcoming series will at least be truthful to the source material and bring their own spin on the iconic Ip.
