Homelander Unofficially Confirmed to Appear in Mortal Kombat 1 Same Day Modern Warfare 2 Appearance Announced

If you’re excited for the return of the hit Amazon Prime television series, The Boys, you might be teeming with the joy over reports that Mortal Kombat 1 and Modern Warfare 2 will include Homelander as a playable character. Although at the time of the writing of this article Homelander has not been officially confirmed as a DLC combatant in Mortal Kombat 1, it appears to be an inevitable announcement.

Apparently, Amazon’s social media account for The Boys on TikTok, confirmed as much in a comment related to the Homelander Call of Duty skin, but the statement was later deleted. This was on the exact same day as The Boys announcement for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone

Call of Duty recently announced that the July 12 season 4 reloaded expansion to Modern Warfare 2 would include The Boys characters: Homelander, Starlight, and Black Noir. Warzone will also include special superpowers for players to obtain when they come into contact with an in-game upgrade called Temp-V.

Since recent leaks have indicated Homelander will join the roster in Mortal Kombat, many think a proper statement is coming. The most recent apparent leak, which spread across the internet quickly, was from an Amazon Italy DLC description for Mortal Kombat 1. The leak was posted to the Reddit page r/Mortalkombatleaks, by user MarkT_D_W.

If the information on the leak is accurate, Homelander will not be the only big third party DLC character to make an appearance. Peacemaker, from the DC universe, and Omni-Man, from Invincible, were also listed in the leak and would likely be major sellers for the game.

When Will We Know If the Mortal Kombat 1 Leaks Are Real or If They Are Simply Misinformation?

Although gamers may be waiting until September 19th, when the game releases, or even longer to learn about the DLC characters, this is unlikely. The social media accounts for Mortal Kombat, as well as Ed Boone, the creative director for NetherRealm Studios, love to tease playable characters. While it is possible the developer will hold on to these major reveals, it will probably want to use Homelander as a marketing tool to get gamers hyped for the release.

The Boys TikTok account may have verified as much, but if the leak is true, Mortal Kombat is not ready to tell the world. Given the very recent Call of Duty skin announcement, those at NetherRealm Studio might be waiting for the dust to settle before taking to social media. Otherwise, it could look like the developer is stealing ideas or that the partnership is not as strong, since there has been no mention of any other The Boys characters joining the roster besides Homelander

Mortal Kombat 1 is set to be a complete continuity reset of the entire franchise. It is going to give fans something new and  reinvent well established characters to make things fresh for players. Since the game is going outside the usual parameters for NetherRealm, determining an exact time for when the DLC characters will be announced might be more difficult than usual. There is more riding on this title than in the past, which means the Mortal Kombat team will want to play its cards right and make announcements at the best possible moment.

Do you think there will be a Homelander reveal for Mortal Kombat 1 before the game releases in September, or will players be waiting even longer to learn the truth. Leave a comment and let us know what you think.
