“He’s too old for me”: Amber Heard’s BFF Evan Rachel Wood Denied Rumors Marvel Star R*ped Her

Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood showed support for Amber Heard during her trial case against actor Johnny Depp and amid the cyberbullying that followed. It seems that both actresses found themselves in the same situation as Wood also confessed she was abused by an ex-partner.

This support for the Aquaman star seems to stem from Wood’s personal experience after she sued her former fiancé Marilyn Manson for domestic violence. The actress shared a post on Instagram that tackled cyberbullying, a rampant issue during Depp and Heard’s court battle.

Evan Rachel Wood Refutes Dating Rumors With Mickey Rourke

Following Evan Rachel Wood’s allegations of abuse against a former lover, she shot down rumors of Marvel star Mickey Rourke being the subject. Wood appeared before the House Judiciary Committee and revealed that she was sexually violated by a previous partner in 2016.

Fans suspected Rourke, who played Ivan Vanko/Whiplash in Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 2, as the abuser, following the actor’s cruel behavior toward his wife of six years, Carré Otis.

In 2008, Wood and Rourke worked together in the movie The Wrestler, which stirred speculations of them having an affair. The actress immediately debunked the rumor via Twitter post:

A lot of rumors have been circulating around about who I was talking about in my testimony. I would like to clear something up and say, it wasn’t Mickey Rourke. We were never ‘together.’

The actress reiterated to Rolling Stone that she, being 35 years younger than him, was never attracted to the actor and that nothing came between them:

I’m not attracted to him, he’s too old for me. Nothing ever happened, and nothing ever will.”

The Barefoot star confessed that she felt insulted by the press and by Rourke for not having the initiative to clear up the issue and for making people believe that they had something in the past:

Just because I’m single doesn’t mean that you can take advantage of me. It’s unfair that the performances might suffer because of all of these distractions.”

However, a report from People said that Rourke also denied the allegations:

No, no. I’m a big fan of hers, and she’s a big fan of mine.”

Wood made it clear to the press that she and the Sin City star were only friends and that any persisting rumor that comes out should be disregarded.

Evan Rachel Wood revealed working with Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler brought worry on her part due to the actor’s history of violence. She told New York Times:

I heard rumors that he was intense. That he wouldn’t give it up for anyone. I was prepared to kill or be killed.”

Initially, they never interacted off-screen as director Darren Aronofsky wanted to yield the same awkwardness between the characters onscreen. Wood shared that Rourke never broke from his character, even on breaks. They eventually grew close, and many reports revealed they were often seen hanging out, even Boston Herald claimed they were caught locking lips.

Wood suspected that fans linked this rumor to her break-up with Manson, but the actress firmly responded that she is not pursuing any relationship at the time.
