Alden Ehrenreich Talks About MCU Hero Robert Downey Jr.
The young star Alden Ehrenreich while speaking with a reporter in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter revealed that while he was filming for Oppenheimer under Christopher Nolan he had to pull up his best form for the movie as everyone else on the set was very talented and experienced actors who have their names in the high-rise buildings worldwide.
“It was so thrilling just because of the way people feel on set all day long. It’s a different quality. Everyone’s super focused. They’re bringing their A-game.”
He further shared with THR that it was also very thrilling for him because everyone starting in the movie was present on set all day long and did not break loose from their top-class acting stance. Alden Ehrenreich also revealed that most of his scenes were with the MCU superhero, Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr.
“All of my scenes are with Robert Downey Jr., and we developed a really nice friendship. And then when ‘Ironheart’ happened right after, I got to call him and talk to him about it before I started. […]
Well, it wasn’t so much advice. He was talking about ‘microdosing’ commercial projects alongside artistic ones, and then right before I said yes to it, I just FaceTimed him and was like, ‘Is there something that I need to know before I sign on to this?'”
Robert Downey Jr. and Alden Ehrenreich became close after their time together both off-screen and on-screen as RDJ helped Ehrenreich in understanding the big roles that he will be getting, going forward. But mainly RDJ was nothing like what Ehrenreich had thought he would be, unlike his previous experience with Harrison Ford.
Alden Ehrenreich’s Disappointment With Harrison Ford
Alden Ehrenreich shared that after he asked Robert Downey Jr. for his advice regarding his upcoming Ironheart role from the MCU, he expected RDJ to be a prick like Harrison Ford. He further reveals that before his days in the Star Wars franchise as Han Solo, he asked Harrison Ford for some insight and he received many negative motivations from his side. Ehrenreich was not expecting Ford to demotivate him for his big starting in the franchise and shared with the reporter that,
“I think they asked Harrison Ford before [Solo] what he would say to the next Han Solo, and he said, ‘Don’t do it.’
“I was like, ‘Is he going to say, ‘Don’t do it’?’ […] But Downey didn’t say that, and I sort of had the honor of introducing [Downey and Thorne]. He is so unf******believably generous and sweet and giving with his time, and he was so happy to talk to her and encourage her. So that was really nice.”
Robert Downey Jr. was nothing like what he expected him to be and instead provided him with valuable information and was very comfortable to approach by the young star. Alden Ehrenreich further revealed that his role as Ironheart felt very different from that of his Star Wars’ Han Solo as he will be getting more experience and exposure to the industry.
