Chris Rock Took A Funny Dig At Jude Law
According to Chris Rock, the second installment of the Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, brought even more humor than its predecessor. Rock took it upon himself to ensure that the sequel would surpass the original by collaborating more closely with Ben Stiller.
“Me and Ben made it a point to do some of our scenes together this time, figuring it would be a lot funnier. Not that the first one wasn’t funny enough, but if we are in the same room, we could bounce off each other, and it would work differently.”
Joining forces with Ben Stiller also brought amusement to Chris Rock, who playfully dubbed his co-star as the Jude Law of comedy films. Previously, while hosting the Oscars, Rock humorously highlighted Law’s notable presence in numerous movies.
“You want Tom Cruise, and all you can get is Jude Law? Who is Jude Law? Why is he in every movie I have seen in the last four years? He’s in everything,” Rock once said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “He’s in everything. He’s gay, he’s straight, he’s American, he’s British – next year, he’s playing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in a movie.”
Jude Law maintained a hectic schedule at the time, juggling numerous projects and commitments that kept him consistently occupied.
Chris Rock Wasn’t Sure About Madagascar Sequel
Despite the success of the first Madagascar film, the possibility of a sequel was not initially assured. Both Ben Stiller and Chris Rock questioned whether a second installment would come to fruition.
“We’ve seen the first one, and we know where it’s headed towards,” Stiller once told The Oklahoman. “The first time, we were just both like, ‘They’re telling us there’s going to be a movie, we take their word for it, and they say it’s going to be in four years.’ You almost start to lose faith at a certain point.”
The trust and belief that both Stiller and Rock placed in the film ultimately yielded remarkable results, as the Madagascar series blossomed into a highly successful franchise comprising five hit movies.
Madagascar can be streamed on Prime Video.
