“Henry won’t do that”: The Witcher Director Puts Blame on Henry Cavill for His Unceremonious Exit From Series to Avoid Fan Backlash

Netflix’s The Witcher is one of the most renowned series which starred Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia and he was adored by fans of both him and the show in the role. The show gained a worldwide following throughout the three seasons the actor played the lead character, earning it the title of one of the greatest TV shows ever produced.

But following Henry Cavill’s sudden exit from the franchise, the officials and the show received a lot of heat and hate from fans and admirers alike. However, the director of The Witcher completely shifted the blame on Cavill during a recent interview and it enraged many as social media is currently roaring with the news.

The Witcher Director Marc Jobst Blames Henry Cavill for His Exit

After portraying the lead character for three seasons. Henry Cavill confirmed his resignation from The Witcher in October 2022. Although the actor claimed that “creative differences” were the cause of his departure, other sources suggest that he was also dissatisfied with the long hours and rigorous workload of the program.

Various fans have responded differently to Cavill’s departure. While some are sad to see him depart, others think it’s time for a new actor to step into the position. For the upcoming season, the show’s makers recast Geralt and hired Liam Hemsworth to take over the part. There have been both positive and negative reviews of the decision.

According to director Marc Jobst’s interview with Redanian Intelligence, the show’s creators were not pleased with Henry Cavill‘s decision to quit The Witcher. Jobst claimed that Cavill believed he had accomplished everything he could in the part and that it was time to move on. He said that Cavill was concerned that the demanding schedule and long hours of the program would put a lot of burden on him.

Fans have expressed disapproval of Jobst’s remarks, believing that he is attempting to appease them by attributing Cavill’s exit to his own. Jobst, though, has justified his statements by asserting that he is merely speaking the truth. Cavill’s resignation is a serious setback for the program. Cavill was the one who contributed the most to the show and was immensely loved for it.

Henry won’t do that, and as a result of that, the results are extraordinary. You’re working with an incredible athlete, first and foremost, who works out hours before, and hours after, you’ve been shooting for 12 hours, and who cares deeply about the work that he does.”

Henry Cavill is currently filming the spy thriller Argylle for Apple TV+. He is also set to star in the action film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare for Lionsgate. In addition, he is an executive producer and will star in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series Warhammer 40,000.
