Henry Cavill's New Upcoming Series is Darker, Grittier and More Intriguing Than The Witcher - Could Potentially Make Him King of Small Screens Again

Since starring in the 2013 movie Man of Steel as the DC superhero, Henry Cavill has been at the top of his game. Along with several Superman appearances, the actor has also starred in several movies and TV shows and has brought multiple characters to life. While he shined at the silver screen as the Kryptonian superhero, Cavill also ruled the small screen with his role as the monster hunter, Geralt of Rivia, in the Netflix series The Witcher.

However, 2022 was a disheartening year for his fans as he departed from both of his memorable roles. He revealed the news in October last year, which was followed by an exciting announcement for his fans. Taking to his Instagram, he revealed that he would be working on a “Warhammer Cinematic Universe” based on the popular game, Warhammer 40,000, which is expected to be the next big thing for Cavill.

Henry Cavill’s Next Intriguing Screen Adaptation

Apart from being known as Superman and Geralt of Rivia, Henry Cavill has also gained a reputation for being a proud nerd over the years. The actor has openly talked about his love for games and fantasy novels and even revealed that he nearly missed Zack Snyder’s call for Man of Steel as he was busy playing World of Warcraft.

His love and respect toward the IP were also reported to be one of the reasons he decided to leave the Netflix series eventually. While Cavill’s performance in the series was undoubtedly remarkable, The Witcher is not believed to be the greatest example of a well-adapted fantasy series.

Cavill is set to star in the series, and will also serve as its executive producer. The actor has shared that he has always “dreamt of seeing a ‘Warhammer’ universe in live-action.” And having worked in the film industry for over two decades, he is willing to use his experience to guide a “Warhammer Cinematic Universe.”

Warhammer 40K could be the new fantasy adventure series for the fans who enjoyed his work in The Witcher. The series is expected to be based in the far future, where “humanity stands at the edge of what might be its brightest future or its darkest age.”

While the actor is set to star in a live-action adaptation, his role in the series has not been revealed yet. Being in the early stages of development, there is not much information about its potential cast. Warhammer 40K Could be Much Darker And Grittier Than The Witcher

The Witcher is known to be a dark fantasy series based on its mature theme. While the first season of its live-action adaptation was considered faithful to its source material, the following season faced criticism for not being aligned with the book series. While the concepts for The Witcher and Warhammer are different, the latter is also considered to be based in a dark world.

Multiple aspects have been stated, describing Warhammer 40k as a dark and terrifying place. Known as “grimdark,” the world of Warhammer is full of dangers, from horrific mutations to rogue psychics. The future world in the series only has war, as its slogan says, “In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war.”

Cavill, who is known to be a keen fan of Warhammer 40K, has shared his appreciation for the same on several occasions. As he has said, the live-action adaptation will bring “something fantastic that is, as of yet, unseen,” It could be assumed that the series might follow along with the grimdark concept.

The actor has shared that the live-action adaptation of Warhammer 40K needs to be handled with patience, or it could leave fans “massively disappointed.” The Mission Impossible star seemed to be well aware of the responsibility he has taken, and it seems he has no plans to disappoint his or the popular series fans.
