James Bond is all that a spy should be. He is the definition of a secret agent: clever, mature, extremely cunning, and swift in his actions and decision-making. Doesn’t that sound like the ideal package? He is, however, a fictional figure invented in 1953 by novelist Ian Fleming.
The next James Bond discussions have already begun among 007 producers, and Henry Cavill is “very excited.” The Witcher actor revealed this week that he is “definitely very interested” in succeeding Daniel Craig.

Henry Cavill to continue Daniel Craig’s legacy
The Man of Steel actor has come a long way since his Hotel Laguna days, but when he recalls his early 2005 screening against Daniel Craig for the titular role of James Bond, the director of Casino Royale said Henry Cavill was “a little chubby.” Due to his size, the actor was not awarded the final prize back then, and now, 15 years later, fate has gone full circle as Cavill currently leads the roster for the next 007 casting.
The campaign to replace Daniel Craig began in 2015, with Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston, and subsequently Tom Hardy as the overwhelming favorites. Cavill was previously considered an outside bet, but that has all changed this year.

He has surpassed Idris Elba and another erstwhile frontrunner, Richard Madden of The Bodyguard and Eternals. In fact, Cavill received more bets than any other actor last month, and his recent comments on the Graham Norton Show only fuelled speculation that he will be the next Bond.
Tom Holland looks unhappy with this James Bond Casting
Tom Holland is still only 25 years old, and one of his key opponents was passed over for the part the last time around because he was too young. Henry Cavill was one of two candidates, along with Daniel Craig, to take over as Bond in Casino Royale, but he was only 23 years old.
This year, Holland has gone on record saying: “Ultimately, as a young British lad who loves cinema, I’d love to be James Bond. So, y’know, I’m just putting that out there. I mean, I look pretty good in a suit! I’d be like a really short James Bond.”
Tom Holland also stated that:
“I keep telling them I’m the next 007 – as a joke. But also as a kind of serious, ‘C’mon guys, let’s make this happen. If I keep casually dropping it into interviews, it’ll eventually happen.”
Tough language aside, keep in mind that the 5’8 celebrity said the same thing about playing Spider-Man years ago. Jacob Batalon, Holland’s Spider-Man coworker, revealed that his pal speaks about portraying Bond “a lot,” and the British actor himself added, “I love making franchise movies – action films are one of my favorite genres. Making them is even more fun.”

Given his experience and ability in the action genre, as well as his mastery of delivering dynamic performances on screen, it is no wonder that Henry Cavill is now leading the leaderboard for this particular franchise. Whether in Mission Impossible or The Witcher, Henry Cavill has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to fascinate his audience, and if he is cast as the next Bond, he will be far from disappointing.
