Hellbent on Protecting Superman's Legacy Following Henry Cavill Exit, James Gunn Confirms 'Superman & Lois' Won't Be Canceled as "It’s a show everybody likes"

Superman & Lois has been one show that started in the CW-verse and was surprisingly loved by everyone. Superman is a character very difficult to pull off after Henry Cavill managed to make his iconic role. However, Tyler Hoechlin proved that if anyone else were to take up the mantle, he wouldn’t be a bad choice. The show has been highly loved since it came on air.

The characters, the story, and every other angle that it followed just managed to sit well with the audience. Seeing that various DCU series and movies got canceled and many actors were let go, the Supergirl spin-off’s fate also was a looming question for the fans. Lucky for them, James Gunn and Peter Safran wish to continue it.

Superman & Lois Will Not Be Canceled Anytime Soon

Starring Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch, Superman & Lois follows the story of the titular characters as they return to Smallville and live a more peaceful life where Clark Kent can be more involved with his family. The show was highly well-received and each aspect of it managed to shine a spark of relativity for the audience. Seeing that Titans and Doom Patrol got canceled, fans were worried about the Kryptonian show as well.

“It’s a show everybody likes, so it’s going to keep going for a little bit.”

James Gunn and Peter Safran have confirmed that Superman & Lois will continue for a few more seasons because of its fan following and mutual love for the series. Being one of the last series left in the CW-verse alongside Gotham Knights, the two shows happen to be the only remaining series to still be running in the franchise altogether. Seeing that The Flash will be airing its final season, both these shows will be continuing with the legacies of the superheroes.

The CW Show Could Protect Superman’s Legacy

After Henry Cavill left the DC Universe, there has been an ongoing demand for the actor to return as the character. However, that seems to be highly unlikely. The only remaining trace of Superman exists in Tyler Hoechlin’s version. He proved just as well that he could play the hero and manifest his charisma, making the fans let go of their doubts regarding other versions of Superman.

The series showed the dynamics between the husband and wife along with their children. It beautifully displayed the difficulties a family can have and how gradually they got closer. It managed to be relatable in aspects one might not expect a show about the Man of Steel to be about. In a way, Superman & Lois has been keeping the hero alive even with the debates and arguments regarding Cavill’s version of the character.

The third season of Superman & Lois will air on 15th March 2023.
