Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania introduced MODOK into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He was one of the most awaited characters and his look was first revealed in the second trailer for the movie. The character was one that the audience had been looking to see a live-action version of. The response has been in two extremes yet most fans lean towards taking the character in a positive way.
Not only that, but they want to see more of him in the future of the franchise. The character had a lot of changes in his origin story and his look to fit the needs of the MCU, but so far most of the audience has been okay with it and even welcomed the idea of wanting to flesh out his story more.
Spoilers Ahead!
MODOK Gets His Origin Story Changed
MODOK was the secondary villain after Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. He was lost in the Quantum Realm and had sworn to take revenge on Scott Lang. The origin story of the character was completely changed and George Tarleton was not the man behind the villainous head. Darren Cross, played by Corey Stoll was determined to get back at Ant-Man after what had happened in the first movie back in 2015.
Cross was living in the Quantum Realm with Kang’s help. While there was a polar response to the character, it was mostly regarding the CGI not being as per MCU’s usual standards. There was a certain amount of criticism but all on the visual aspects rather than the story or his involvement in the plot itself. With regard to the plot, he was very well received and the demand for his return is just as much as that of Majors’ Kang the Conqueror.
Fans Rally For MODOK’s Return
MODOK is one of the most requested characters to return to the MCU fans. After seeing him in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, fans have been constantly asking for the character to have his own movie or Disney+ series. Furthermore, they want to see his story evolve and reach its best potential.
Despite the character having a lot of changes, he is still just as loved. The audience wants to see him as a major villain rather than the smaller role that he played in the movie. They were happy with his appearance and even with the ending he got in the movie, fans are still looking forward to seeing the character in the future.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is now available to watch in theatres.
