And not only do fans believe this, but his peers also find every statement about his outstanding acting and shooting to be true as well. This dates back to when Fury was still in filming, and Shia LaBeouf was cast in it. Being a somewhat newbie in the midst of highly accomplished stars like Brad Pitt and Jon Bernthal must have made him a bit insecure about himself, but the Transformers star didn’t let it get to him. Instead, he did everything he could to amp up his game and leave even his legendary co-stars impressed.

Since he had to roleplay the character of a World War II tank soldier, LaBeouf went to extremes for his role. He went without showering during the entire eight months of the shoot to get familiarized with how the real soldiers in his place must have felt back in the 1940s. Furthermore, he even pulled out his own tooth and cut his face with it in front of the entire crew just to look like a jaded soldier.

Not just stopping there, the Transformers actor claims he even became Christian for the movie, along with pulling other antics including spending an entire month on an army base, and the worst of these all, he ‘spent days watching horses die’, though no one really knows how. Talk about a real method actor and the first person to pop into your mind would be Shia LaBeouf.

While this entire ‘repping his game up’ left his castmates terrified of him to the point where he was assigned a separate bed and breakfast throughout the duration of the shoot, Jon Bernthal, on the other hand, was highly impressed with LaBeouf. Revealing his first impression of his Fury co-actor, the Punisher star said,

“The first time when I met him, I was like, ‘this guy’s just f–cking… He’s just loud, you know. He’s wearing his process on his sleeve showing everybody how hard he’s working.’ But what I found after the eight months of working with him, he was  – and this is just my own [opinion] – he is every bit, this thing is every bit as vital to him as it was with me. I found a real partner, I found a real kindred spirit. I found that he was willing to risk it all, for this, for the work. And I walked away with an enormous amount of respect and love for him.”

In fact, Jon Bernthal was so highly impressed with Shia LaBeouf that he claimed that the Transformers star was the best actor he’s ever worked with!
