As per reported by Radar Online, an insider close to Tom Cruise stated that he was so already ready and was polishing his Oscar speech when they picked up Brad Pitt. As per the insider, Tom Cruise was a sure shot of winning the Oscars this year but it all went awry.

“Tom expected to walk away with the award for best actor, so you can imagine his reaction when he wasn’t even on the list — he totally blew a fuse! This was the first time in years that Tom was so sure he had a slam-dunk win he was fine-tuning his acceptance speech,”

Brad Pitt was picked up for his performance in Damien Chazelle’s Babylon which received mixed reception while Top Gun: Maverick was received very well by the audience. It is unknown why the Oscars had this controversial decision taken but Tom Cruise does have his reasons for not being picked up.

The Golden Globe Awards are a product of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The corporation has had some controversial incidents occurring in the past that involved notable actors like Brendan Fraser and Tom Cruise.

Blaming Hollywood for not having enough diversity, Tom Cruise previously rejected three Golden Globe awards to take a stand for not showcasing enough diversity. The insider states that this was the reason that the Oscars chose Brad Pitt over Tom Cruise.

“A lot of people are convinced that’s the real reason he was snubbed. It stinks that Brad, once again, seems to have milked his relationship with the foreign journalists at the Globes to get his own movie — which many consider way inferior to Top Gun — a ton of nods,”

As far as officiality goes, these are all allegations that do not have concrete proof as of yet. Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick is available to stream on Paramount+.
