Daniel Radcliffe became part of the Harry Potter world at a very young age. This also gave him myriads of opportunities to work and learn with many experienced actors in the industry, which he did, throughout the filming of the Harry Potter series.
When the actor was working with Gary Oldman and they were working on an intense, the 34-year-old actor recalled how the Slow Horses actor yelled at him.
Daniel Radcliffe says he almost fell after Gary Oldman screamed at him
Daniel Radcliffe is now one of the seasoned actors after filming with so many great actors in the industry. The Jungle actor is still remembered as Harry Potter as he left a great impression on people through his character. As the actor stepped into the industry from a very young age he got to witness how many incredible actors come up with their acting techniques. In an interview, Radcliffe described, how during filming a scene with Gary Oldman, the 65-year-old actor’s method of eliciting a reaction terrified him. While talking about the Hunter Killer actor, the 34-year-old actor said,
“Gary Oldman came up to me and said, ‘Do you mind if we get a bit intense?’ And then he came towards me. I thought he was going to hold me, but he shook me and screamed at me! So hard that when he let me go, I almost fell. I wanted to go crawl up in a fetal position.”
He further added,
“And then he said, ‘Throw your head back and scream.’ And it worked.”
The Kill Your Darlings actor stated that he was only 15 years old when this happened. But the way Oldman’s idea to bring out an intense reaction from the actor scared him but worked in the end.
Daniel Radcliffe was starstruck by Gary Oldman
When The Lost City actor appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert he was asked about the legendary actors he has worked with. The F Word actor recalled the first person whom he was starstruck was Oldman and he was aware of his contribution to the industry. While talking about the 65-year-old actor the Swiss Army Man actor said,
“At the time I wasn’t starstruck by any of those people. The first person I remember being starstruck by was Gary Oldman. Because that was the age when I was aware of who he was and his work and also getting more serious about acting myself. So, yeah, before that when you meet someone as a nine-year-old it’s sort of hard to like, gain starstruckness of them later on.”
Radcliffe is still very popular for his Harry Potter character and the legacy that he created with the movie. The 34-year-old actor is now trying his hands on other genres as well and is receiving love and admiration for his acting skills from all his fans.
