Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso have maintained a stable and happy married life for over 18 years. They have four kids and their bond as a family keeps getting stronger every day. Barroso talked about her first meeting with Damon in 2018 and revealed how she was impressed with his understanding and humility. She told Vogue,

“I was working as a bartender in South Beach (Miami) and he was shooting a movie there and the crew ended up in the bar one Saturday night… Matt’s story is that he saw me across the room and there was a light on me. And I’m like: ‘yeah it was a nightclub – there were lights everywhere! But he had started getting recognized and asked for pictures and autographs, and then it got kind of aggressive because people are drinking and stuff, and so he came and hid behind my bar [wanting to] just hang out back there and have a drink.

He says ‘oh I saw you and I really wanted to talk to you’. So I put him to work with me! I said: ‘you know, if you’re going to be back here, you can’t just be standing there!’ He had trained as a bartender for a film years before, so he started making drinks. And he made me a ton of money in tips that night, because of course everyone wanted to go and see him. So it turned into a really fun night and then 15 years later here we are!”

Damon and Barroso’s first meeting sounds like a story out of a rom-com. But this happened in their lives and hence led to them being married. Damon’s understanding and humility are evident in their first meeting and this aspect of him despite being a huge actor, surprised and impressed her. It sure seems like they were a ‘match made in heaven’.

Matt Damon has also commented on his first encounter with his wife and how his life has changed due to her support and influence. In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres (on YouTube) in 2011, he talked about his first meeting with Luciana Barroso in a bar in Miami where she was the bartender. He said,

“We were supposed to shoot in Hawaii, and then the movie got moved to Miami. . . . I had never really hung out in Miami. I literally saw her across a crowded room, literally. Eight years and four kids later, that’s my life. I don’t know how else our paths would’ve crossed if that didn’t happen. If all those things didn’t happen”

Damon’s story sure sounds like a fairytale romance coming to life and the respect and love they both have for each other is adorable and inspiring. On the work front, Damon will star in Drive-Away Dolls, a road comedy film directed by Ethan Coen also starring Margaret Qualley, Pedro Pascal, Beanie Feldstein, and Geraldine Viswanathan. He will also make an appearance in John Krasinski’s fantasy comedy IF, also starring Krasinski, Ryan Reynolds, and Fiona Shaw among others.

He will lead the upcoming heist thriller film The Instigators, directed by Doug Liman which also stars Casey Affleck, Hong Chau, Paul Walter Hauser, and Ving Rhames.
