Mark Hamill Talked About Harrison Ford’s Anger

During an Empire magazine interview, Mark Hamill candidly discussed a memorable incident involving Harrison Ford’s visible frustration during their time on set. Hamill recounted, “You heard about Harrison taking a saw to the Millennium Falcon because he got so mad? People were coming up to me going, ‘You gotta stop Harrison, he’s sawing up the Falcon.’”

Ford found himself in a state of frustration (the source of which remains a mystery), and he chose to vent his ire. It was Hamill who played the role of the peacemaker, intervening just in the nick of time to prevent any substantial harm from befalling the iconic starship.

“It was made of wood and he just took a saw to it,” he said in the Empire interview. “I love Harrison. I got to stop him because I can make him laugh when he gets really, really mad.”

Although Chewbacca is depicted as Han Solo’s closest companion on screen, it appears that the connection between Ford and Hamill was robust enough to avert a potentially disastrous outburst from derailing their filming efforts.

Harrison Ford Wasn’t The First Choice For The Role

Fate took an unexpected turn, propelling Harrison Ford from a supporting role to the forefront, crafting a narrative seemingly scripted by the cosmos. Throughout the audition process, George Lucas gradually recognized Ford’s irresistible charisma and the remarkable chemistry he shared with fellow cast members.

Ford’s distinctive allure and versatile skills radiated in every encounter, astounding Lucas and prompting him to reconsider his initial intentions. Lucas had initially pictured an elder actor, worn by the world and carrying a hint of skepticism, as the ideal choice for the character of Han Solo.

Yet, in Ford, he discovered the flawless representation of Solo’s intricate persona—a blend of mercenary bravado and the fatigue accrued from traversing the cosmos for countless years. Everything aligned perfectly, reshaping Ford’s career trajectory and solidifying his position in the celestial firmament.
