From being at the forefront of the original Avengers to earning two Oscar nominations under her belt in the same year, the Marriage Story star’s accomplishments in her 2-decade-long career remain unparalleled.
However, unlike her professional life, Johansson’s love life wasn’t the smoothest from the get-go, resulting in her being involved in two failed marriages before founding her match with Colin Jost.

Scarlett Johansson’s bond with her current husband Colin Jost is one for the storybooks, but before finding her match in the comedian, the Marvel star endured two painful divorces. But even before the two got romantically inclined toward each other, Johansson was quite familiar with the SNL star. Although she did find him cute after the two came across again in 2017, when she was single, back when they first encountered, it wasn’t the case considering she was already committed at the time. She explained,
“I mean you know he’s he’s a very I think a very cute guy, but I you know I, the other times I was there, I was there, I was you know in a relationship, and I was not like, you’re like oh he’s cute, but you know right. And um this time, the time, it was the timing was right it was like he looked yeah he, I think he looked differently to me because I was available like it was just the timing has to be right.”
But during her gig hosting SNL in 2017, things between the two finally escalated, leading to them tying the knot in secrecy at the height of the pandemic.

But unlike her previous two marriages with Ryan Reynolds and Romain Dauriac, which all suffered the same fate, things have been quite different for her with Colin Jost. The two welcomed their first child together not long after their marriage, and Scarlett Johansson has been pretty outspoken about their love and respect for each other. Reflecting on the topic of why her current marriage has worked while the previous two failed, Johansson claimed she is in a much more mature stage of her life, which has helped her in making her third marriage work. She explained,
“I didn’t know what I wanted or needed from somebody else. I never realized ‘Oh, it’s really important for me, I need to be with a compassionate person’. That’s a fundamental characteristic that has to be there. I think that understanding what those fundamental things are that you need in a partner is a must, for longevity anyway. I think identifying those things was a game-changer for me.”
With the Avengers star still moving strongly in Hollywood, as she recently starred in the Wes Anderson-led Asteroid City, she has finally succeeded in balancing her personal and professional life.
