One veteran WWE star recently attracted Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s attention by comparing his Madison Square Garden debut to that of “The Great One.” Johnson reacted on Twitter, but after that, the interaction between the two abruptly ended.
Recently, the wrestler expressed his dissatisfaction with Johnson during an appearance on the Babyfaces podcast. On this week’s SmackDown, the Australian Superstar will host Rey Mysterio, who has recently been crowned the United States Champion, on The Grayson Waller Effect.
The Feud between Grayson Waller and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
When asked about the back-and-forth on the Babyfaces podcast, Grayson Waller referred to The Rock as irrelevant and stated he soon got over it.
“I was over The Rock three seconds after he tweeted me with some mediocre response,” Waller said.
“I was trying to help him out. I went out of my way to go there to make the Rock relevant in WWE again. Obviously, he’s a huge global superstar, everyone knows The Rock, and he’s probably the most well-known professional wrestler of all time, but when it comes to WWE, it’s all about what have you done for me lately? He hasn’t done nothing for anyone lately, so I was trying to give him a path to come back in, maybe ease him in before Roman [Roman Reigns] and the Bloodline, they have all these things going on.”
Waller continues, “I don’t think he was about that. The Rock is at a stage in his life where he knows if he gets back in the ring, all these young, hungry guys, we’re not going to sit down and show him respect. We want to fight. I don’t think The Rock wanted to fight me. I’ve moved on. I gave him his opportunity. He had the chance for the Grayson Waller rub, he didn’t take it, so I’m going to give that opportunity to someone else.”
The Rock has spent a long time away from the WWE. Waller previously stated that he was trying to give The Rock a job because he is now unemployed as a result of the SAG-AFTRA strike.
When will ‘The Rock” Make WWE Return?
Recently, rumors of Dwayne Johnson a.k.aThe Rock, returning to WWE at the Summer Slam have been going around on social media. At WrestleMania 32, The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment faced Erick Rowan in his final match. Since WrestleMania 32, he has made a lot of WWE appearances. Fans, however, have been eager to see him return to the ring for a full-fledged rivalry.
Dave Meltzer, who writes for the ‘Wrestling Observer Newsletter’ and closely follows WWE developments, revealed that he is still unsure of The Rock’s plans, who has amassed a staggering net worth of approximately $800 million.
“I asked if there’s gonna be somebody else, and they said ‘I don’t know, maybe’, so who knows? I don’t know if Dwayne Johnson will come back, but if he’s going to do it for something, it’s gonna be for 50,000 fans in Detroit, which is this show. I don’t know what he’s doing again, I know there’s a strike on and everything, but he’s always doing something,” Meltzer was quoted as saying by Marca.
WWE fans have eagerly awaited The Rock’s likely comeback to the ring in recent weeks. Many believed that The Rock’s match against Roman Reigns at Summer Slam would be the ideal way to return.
