Chris Hemsworth is one of the biggest actors in the industry, who is exclusively known for his portrayal of the Norse God of Thunder in the MCU. However, in his decorated career, the actor has done several iconic roles that have charmed the audience with his performance, one of them being the role of Tyler Rake in Netflix Original’s Extraction. And he is returning to reprise his role in the sequel which ended with a cliffhanger.
Recently, a new image was released from the action-packed sequel, and Chris Hemsworth is on fire. No, really, he is literally on fire, where he was seen fighting with armed guards and it looks quite chaotic. The Men in Black: International actor will turn 40 this August, and he still has a chiseled physique and shows no signs of old age. However, the actor will soon start to reduce his acting time due to his heightened risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
Chris Hemsworth Willingly Sets Himself on Fire For Extraction 2
In an exclusive interview with Empire, Sam Hargrave, the director of Extraction 2 sat down to talk about the upcoming sequel that has taken the internet by storm, and he promised the viewers that the movie will be action-packed like the first film. Hargrave, then, talked about a prison break scene, where he is excited to see Chris Hemsworth beating up some prisoners while being on fire.
“For me, the image of Chris Hemsworth beating the shit out of a bunch of prisoners, while on fire, in the snow was something that I couldn’t pass up.”
The director praised the Spiderhead actor for his dedication to the role, as he did not mind being set on fire “again and again.” Hargrave added that he knows very few A-lister action stars in the industry, who would voluntarily let themselves be set on fire for the perfect scene in the movie.
“And hats off to Chris. It wasn’t CG fire. And he had to do it over and over. I don’t know a lot of people, let alone Hollywood A-listers, who are gonna let you light them on fire while on camera.”
The words of Sam Hargrave are not empty because he was a former stunt person and a stunt coordinator in Hollywood, and he has worked with people like Russo Brothers in Infinity War and Endgame, as well as doing stunt work as Captain America for Chris Evans. Hargrave’s words ensure that the upcoming sequel would be worth the watch, and possibly one of the best movies done by the actor in his career, before he possibly retires.
Chris Hemsworth Will Step Back From Acting
Last year, during an interview, the Thor actor announced that he has a “higher risk” of being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s later in his life, which has made him take a different approach in choosing his projects. Even though Chris Hemsworth assured his fans that he is not “retiring by any means,” he is thinking of a more “curated approach to things.”
Hemsworth shared that while filming for Limitless, the Disney+ docu-series, he had to undergo several blood tests, and there he learned that he is “eight to ten times likelier to develop Alzheimer’s than the general population” because he possessed two copies of the APOE4 gene, hence making him more vulnerable to the irreversible brain disorder.
And he stated how he fears that as he develops the disease he would totally forget about his family and the life he enjoyed with his wife and kids. The actor will be one of the biggest names in Hollywood, who will be stepping down due to medical complications, and fans of the actor are definitely not ready for it.
Extraction 2 will release on 16th June 2023 on Netflix.
