John Lennon might have gone down in history as one of the most talented artists, but the music wasn’t the only thing he was passionate about; he also happened to be an avid infidel who relished his debauched ways of living almost as much as he loved playing the guitar. So much so that he was utterly unapologetic about cheating on his wife with multiple women even after having a child with her. Looks like, his advocacy of peace didn’t apply to his personal life.
John Lennon – A Beloved Musician & An Unabashed Infidel
One of the world’s most popular singer/songwriters, John Lennon – who climbed the star-studded ladder of fame as the founder and rhythm guitarist of The Beatles – openly admitted to sleeping with more than “dozens” of women throughout his first marriage that lasted six long years before their acrimonious divorce in 1968.
The late musician tied the knot with Cynthia Lennon back in 1962 and had a son with her, Julian Lennon, just a year later. But underneath the facade of familial happiness lay a tumultuous relationship between husband and wife with the former constantly cheating on her with what was estimated to be hundreds of women around the world. The worst part? Lennon felt no regret or shame whatsoever about his grave indiscretions. And to lend insult to injury, he demanded Cynthia be faithful to him all while he got in bed with a different woman every other day.
Reflecting on the same, Bob Spitz’s book The Beatles: The Biography mentions how –
“He had no shame. He acted as if he were still a bachelor — even after the baby came.”
Not only that, but his friend Bill Harry also claimed that the peace activist barely tried to cover his tracks, let alone feel any modicum of remorse. And then one fine day, when Cynthia had had enough of her husband’s salacious liaisons (that was also when she witnessed it firsthand), she decided to call it quits.
The End of A Chaotic Marriage & The Beginning of A New One
Soon after an inebriated Lennon fessed up all his scandalous involvements with innumerable women, Cynthia caught him red-handed with Japanese singer Yoko Ono in their own home, and that served as the prelude to their highly-publicized split.
A year after parting ways with his first wife in ’68, Lennon then went on to marry Ono. Technically, the couple were together till 1980 when the former died in an assassination, but just because they didn’t get an official divorce doesn’t mean they were head over heels in love with each other.

In 1973, Ono and Lennon separated after irreparable cracks started to show up in their marriage, and no sooner did they start getting distant that The Beatles’ co-vocalist got entangled in an affair with his secretary, May Pang.
A couple of years later in 1975, however, Lennon and Ono seemed to have sutured their marital wounds and were back together. They even got their vows renewed and welcomed their son Sean Lennon towards the end of that year.
