Robert Downey Jr. became as big and iconic as an actor could get in his prime. His work as Iron Man is already quite legendary and people are eagerly waiting for him to be back in Avengers: Secret Wars in some capacity. It is known that RDJ has had a troublesome background growing up, and his long-acting career didn’t really take off until he was cast in and as Iron Man. But even when he was cast for the role, it was considered a risky move. From being a questionable casting choice to becoming synonymous with Tony Stark, Downey did something that’s totally commendable. But there are certain facts about him that all his die-hard fans should know.
It is known that he wasn’t the first choice for Iron Man as Tom Cruise was in contention. But even Tom Cruise agreed that Downey Jr. was born to be Tony Stark. Besides that, you’d probably even know that Downey practices martial arts to lead a healthy lifestyle. And, he has been using his resources to fight the climate crisis for many years with Footprint Coalition. Downey Jr. is certainly a generous guy but there are a few surprising and truly eccentric things about him too.

Did you know that he used to have his own furniture carried around wherever he went to film a movie? And now getting to another interesting fact about him that was revealed by his Iron Man co-star Gwyneth Paltrow, Robert Downey Jr. didn’t like it when she wore high heels.

Here, watch her old interview during the press tour of Iron Man 3:
Downey Jr. comes off as kinda insecure over here, but you’d understand his sentiment as he obviously isn’t the tallest in the room. He wasn’t trying to put Gwyneth Paltrow down, but he was trying to elevate his own character. Robert Downey Jr. stands 5′ 8″ tall. But we’ve picked several instances where Tony Stark was shown to be as tall as Steve Rogers and sometimes as tall as Thor too. This made sense because even in the animated space, Tony Stark has been shown to be a relatively tall guy.
Just look at this still from Avengers: Age of Ultron.
These are the kinds of things we miss about Robert Downey Jr. For now, he has been producing some great stuff like Netflix’s Sweet Tooth under his and his wife’s production company, Team Downey. But all Iron Man fans are awaiting his possible return in Avengers: Secret Wars, which is set to release on May 1, 2026.
