Hollywood stars Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan began dating in 2006, got married in July 2009, and welcomed their first child, Everly, in May 2013. However, the fairytale marriage came to an end in 2018 and their divorce was finalized in 2019.
The two first met on the sets of 2006’s Step Up. Just like in the movie, the two fell in love in real life as well, however, it didn’t happen instantly. Dewan was initially reluctant to accept any kind of advances from Tatum. Then one day, Tatum’s strange way of confessing his feelings for her caught her off guard and the two started dating.
Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan met on the sets of Step Up (2006)
Ex-couple Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan first met on the sets of Step Up (2006). In 2018, Dewan talked about their first meeting,
“We started out as friends, and I would say it was an instant recognition. When we met [on the set of Step Up in 2005] it felt like we had known each other for many years.”
Initially, they shared a kiss while auditioning for the movie and Tatum teased Dewan stating that her breath smells bad. It wasn’t as “instant” as Dewan explained it because it took some time for the two to actually develop feelings for each other.
Jenna Dewan was unsure about their relationship
At the time, Tatum reportedly got out of a relationship and Dewan believed that the feelings are developing just because they are working on the movie together. The actress told Cosmopolitan in 2016,
“I was smart enough not to get my feelings wrapped up in it. I figured we might just be into each other because we’re shooting a movie. I said, ‘While you’re figuring that out, I’m not just going to hang out and watch movies and flirt. I’ll see you on-set.”
On the other hand, Channing Tatum was sure about his feelings and confessed to her in the weirdest way possible.

In the same Cosmopolitan interview, Dewan further revealed how Tatum expressed his feelings. The actress said,
“It was two nights of being weird. We hadn’t even kissed and then he went out partying with a bunch of dancers. His room was right above mine, and he came down drunk with a sombrero on, banging on my door. He was like, ‘I couldn’t stop thinking about you. Let’s do this. I just want to be with you.’ From that point forward, we were together.”
The two dated for a while and finally got married in 2009. They welcomed their first child, Everly, in May 2013, however, their relationship just didn’t work and they got separated in 2018.
