Seems like Buckingham Palace is having a hard time signing up artists for King Charles’ coronation event, as multiple star performers have already turned down the offer. And Harry Styles has also joined the growing list of artists turning down the offer. The coronation concert is set to happen at Windsor Castle on May 7 and is expected to feature some of the biggest stars.
Music icons like Elton John, Spice Girls, Adele, and Ed Sheeran have been approached, however, all of them refused to perform at the event. While some Hollywood A-listers declined the offer, many have also grabbed the opportunity to light up King Charles’ ceremony.
Harry Styles Declined the Offer to Perform at King Charles’ Coronation Concert
Buckingham Palace will celebrate King Charles’ coronation event in May with a grand weekend featuring multiple events. Festivities will also include a coronation concert held at Windsor Castle on May 7, where several music stars will take the stage to celebrate the new king. And King Charles had some of the biggest artists on his list.
Elton John was reportedly on top of his list. Harry Styles, Adele, Ed Sheeran, and Spice Girls were also invited to perform at the coronation concert. However, all the above artists declined the offer to perform at King Charles’ coronation concert. The Dunkirk star has also recently turned down the offer due to his busy schedule.
Harry Styles is currently on a world tour with his Love On show. He is currently performing his Love On show in Australia. Not just Hollywood A-listers, the Duke and Duchess, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have also not yet confirmed if they will be attending the coronation ceremony.
The drama between the Royal family and the Duke and Duchess has been boiling since the couple stepped down from their royal duties. Things reportedly have not been well since the release of their Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan, and Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare.
And it appears like most stars are not interested in getting involved in the Royal family drama, as one after another artist refuses to perform at King Charles’ coronation ceremony.
Which Artists Will Light Up the Coronation Concert?
According to The Sun, Elton John was on top of King Charles’ list, but the British singer had to decline the offer due to his European tour. Girl group, Spice Girl, was reportedly confirmed to perform at the event till last month.
However, they have also withdrawn from performing at the event. The organizers are reportedly “working against the clock to pull together an exciting lineup but have hit a series of challenges.” An insider claimed,
“The biggest names and acts in world music are being approached for the concert. If you draw up a list of the most popular acts in the world over the past 30 years, then they are all being considered.”
Some artists have agreed to light up the coronation concert, including the boy band, Take That and Kylie Minogue & Dannii Minogue. The boy band is also rumored to be headlining the event, as they have been a royal favorite since they performed at a 2007 concert for the late Princess Diana. American singer Lionel Richie is also expected to perform at the event. More acts are expected to be revealed in the upcoming days.
