Marvel made a major announcement regarding the character of Thunderbolt Ross in the upcoming film Thunderbolts. Harrison Ford has been confirmed to play Thunderbolt Ross in the film, and fans appear to be very excited about this new development.
William Hurt, best known for his roles in the films A History of Violence, The Village, and AI – Tekoääli, died in the spring of this year. Following that, it was expected that Marvel Studios will remove Thunderbolt Ross from the franchise. However, According to recent sources, the Blade Runner actor will replace the late William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross in the MCU.
Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk will be a part of the Thunderbolts
Harrison Ford is making the transition from one of Disney’s major franchises to another. According to various publications (though unconfirmed by Marvel), Harrison Ford, best known for his roles as Han Solo and Indiana Jones, will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe to portray Thaddeus Ross, replacing the late William Hurt. It’s significant news, and it suggests that Marvel has big ideas for the character in the future, including some bulking out.
Thunderbolt Ross was last seen in Black Widow, a role performed by William Hurt in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hurt, on the other hand, died before he could establish his Thunderbolts squad. Ross was rumored to be the MCU’s Red Hulk, and a Thunderbolts film was in the works.
Thunderbolts is the name of a Marvel comics antihero squad. The film is in development for a 2024 release, and while some of its cast members were disclosed a few weeks ago, Ross, alias Red Hulk, was curiously absent. The general is subjected to an experiment by the AIM criminal organization in order to get skills comparable to the Hulk so that he can combat him.
Harrison Ford will play Red Hulk in the MCU till Avengers: Secret Wars
According to Twitter user @GraceRandolph, who’s known for providing Hollywood leaks and reports, has stated that Harrison Ford, 80, despite his advancing age will play Red Hulk up until Avengers: Secret Wars. So, this means Ford is set to feature in four MCU films if we don’t include a possible spin-off.
Also, there’s the possibility of a Hulk army in the MCU. A bizarre idea, but on the other hand: comics have seen a variety of Hulks throughout the years, and the She-Hulk series paved the way for this road to be taken in the MCU as well. Furthermore, Sam “The Leader” Sterns, most renowned for his work on The Incredible Hulk, was just announced to be in the upcoming Captain America film, Captain America: New World Order which may imply that new winds are blowing on the Hulk front shortly.
Harrison Ford appears to have some big shoes to fill, especially if he wants to prove people wrong and win their hearts instead.
Thunderbolts debuts on July 6, 2024.
