Rockstar Game is one of the biggest video game publishers in the world. They are the reason behind successful gaming franchises like Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto. The gaming community all over the world has held these video games in high respect. Their last game was Red Dead Redemption 2, released in 2018. Even after five years, Rockstar has thousands of daily active players.
The reason behind the success of these record-breaking games is workers at the Rockstar’s office. But recently, a piece of news was confirmed that one of the main figures for these games left the company. Fans are upset knowing about this. But all successful runs come to an end.
Rockstar Games’ Legend Leaves The Company
Michael Unsworth, Vice President of Writing at Rockstar Games, left the company after serving for 16 long years. His resume includes writing for critically acclaimed games like Red Dead Redemption 1, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Grand Theft Auto 5. His other works include Grand Theft Auto 4, L.A. Noire, Max Payne 3, etc. Michael Unsworth left as a legend of the video gaming world.
Till now, there has been no announcement regarding the successor. Previously, his departure was kept a secret until a GTAForums user spotted changes on Michael Unsworth’s LinkedIn profile. His profile reads,
“Mike is an accomplished writer who spent over 16 years working for Rockstar Games as a creative lead on some of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful video game franchises of all time, most notably Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption.”
It can be well seen that his tenses have been changed from present to past, which denotes that the company was his past. The reason behind Michael Unsworth leaving Rockstar Games is still kept a secret. At this moment, his admirers can only speculate the reason for his exit.
Other Veterans Who Have Left the Company
Veteran members like Rockstar North President – Leslie Benzies, GTA producer/writer – Lazlow Jones, and Rockstar Creative Lead – Dan Houser have all previously left the company after serving for several years. Together, they have gifted the gaming community some of the games in console history. Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two CEO, was seen to be optimistic about Houser’s departure. For the moment, Strauss Zelnick has denied the possibility of any more departures.
Rockstar Games is currently focusing on their next Grand Theft Auto project. It is speculated to be a new Vice City game. Even though the game will be one of the most anticipated ones, it is hard to think of it without Michael Unsworth’s magic hands. Only time will tell how successful the post-Michael Unsworth era will be.
