GTA 6 Rumors Disappoint ‘PC Master Race’ Cult as Rockstar Expected to Follow Frustrating Tradition of Record-Breaking Prequel

The Grand Theft Auto series, commonly known as GTA, is one of the most famous, successful, and popular gaming franchises in the world despite not getting a new game in ten years. The next game in the series, GTA 6, is expected by many to be one of the most anticipated games of all time, given how long players have had to wait for it. Developed by open-world masters Rockstar, the game still hasn’t revealed a look at gameplay or even a trailer – illegal leaks and hacking notwithstanding.

However, despite Rockstar’s success with the series, fans do have some concerns with the game, and they aren’t related to the plot, characters, gameplay, graphics, or performance. Instead, the thing some fans have serious concerns about is the release date of GTA 6 on PC.

Is there a release date for GTA 6 on PC?

There is no word currently on a potential release date or even a launch window for GTA 6, and nor do we know which platforms it will launch on. Given developer Rockstar’s past with their games though, it’s safe to assume that it will indeed launch first on PlayStation and Xbox consoles before making its way to PC at a later date.

After all, this is what happened with Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5), which first released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013 and PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2014 before finally making its way to PC in 2015. The same thing happened with their other hit open-world Western game Red Dead Redemption 2, which launched on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One first in 2018 followed by a PC launch in 2019.

What did fans have to say about GTA 6’s PC release?

Some fans took to Reddit to share their thoughts on the matter of GTA 6’s potential PC release plan which is in line with Rockstar’s publishing history. One gamer started things off with a joke in the form of an internet meme saying that PC players will have to wait for a minimum of one year to experience GTA 6 on their platform. This got mixed responses on the Reddit thread from other PC players.

Many of these PC players seemed open to the idea of investing in a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Series X/S to experience the game at launch and avoid spoilers, while also avoiding the long waiting time. To these fans, the price of buying this console in addition to the PC’s they presumably already own was worth it to play the game. Others, though, didn’t agree as they felt that Rockstar should rethink its policy of releasing PC versions of their games after releasing them on console. They were also unwilling to purchase a new PlayStation or Xbox console.

The landscape of gaming, PC gaming included, has changed and evolved a lot since the release of GTA 5, so it’s possible that Rockstar may well change its approach. But as of now, we still have no official word.
