GoldenEye 007 REVIEW: What’s The Hype? (XSS)

GoldenEye 007 is an FPS video game that was originally released in 1997 for the Nintendo 64. The updated version, released for the Xbox One and Series consoles, is a remastered version of the classic game. As someone who has never had the chance to play the original, I can say that for myself, the updated version of GoldenEye 007 is a mixed bag. While it has some great features, it also has a few too many flaws that hold it back from being a truly great recreation.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of GoldenEye 007 is its profound soundtrack. The music in this game is quite fantastic and really sets the tone for each mission. The music is extremely intense and really helps to get you into the game and keep you engaged. Additionally, the pause menu in GoldenEye 007 is also one of the best in video game history (I think it’s the same as the original). It’s truly beautifully designed and really adds to the overall experience of the game.

Unfortunately, the gameplay in GoldenEye 007 leaves a whole lot to be desired. The controls are clunky and unresponsive, which makes it difficult to aim and shoot accurately (something not too uncommon for remasters from this time period). The levels are also repetitive and the enemies are not very challenging at all. I got bored quickly, and it wasn’t long before I was just going through the motions and not enjoying the game.

The story of GoldenEye 007 is also a major letdown. It’s very formulaic and predictable, and there are not many twists or turns to keep you engaged. The characters are not well developed, and I found it difficult to care about anything that was happening. The cutscenes are also poorly animated, and the voice acting is lackluster.

Despite these flaws, GoldenEye 007 still has some redeeming qualities. From what I’ve seen multiplayer mode is a lot of fun, and it is a great way to enjoy the game with friends. The graphics are also impressive, especially for a game that was originally released in 1997. The environments are well-designed and there is a good level of detail in the textures and lighting.

In conclusion, GoldenEye 007 is a game that has a lot of potential, but it falls short in several key areas. If you’re a fan of first-person shooters and are looking for a game with a great split-screen multiplayer mode, GoldenEye 007 might be worth checking out. However, if you’re looking for a well-rounded game with a great single-player experience, you might want to look elsewhere.
