However, while he draws his fans with his trademark charisma, the actor even got compared to his MCU co-star Scarlett Johansson as a diva, because of his dramatic personality.
During an episode on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Avengers cast appeared to promote their film and ended up having a great time interacting with fans on the “Wall Of America”. While conversing with fans, Robert Downey Jr. got termed as a “diva” to which he gave an unbelievably sassy response and played along.
Robert Downey Jr’s Response To Being Called A Diva
With a stunning filmography and several critically acclaimed projects under his belt, Robert Downey Jr. became a fan-favorite actor after reprising his role as MCU’s Iron Man. Following his commercial success after leading the Marvel role, the actor earned a massive fan base. However, he was once termed a diva by a female fan on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Although it’s well known that Downey Jr. has a trademark charisma and dry humor, the actor couldn’t fathom the fact that he was compared to Scarlett Johansson by a fan. During a promotional interaction on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the MCU star cast was asked, “I feel like I know the answer to this, but who is the biggest diva in the whole cast?” by a fan.
Evidently, everyone on set knew it was Robert Downey Jr, including the actor himself. However, with Scarlett Johansson seated among them, Downey felt the necessity to point at the incredible actress. But, when everyone sided with the female fan and pointed at Downey, he channeled his inner diva and gave out a sassy response, “Get that b*tch off the screen”.
Joe Russo Compared Robert Downey Jr. to A Diva
After that incident, there’s no denying that Robert Downey Jr. is indeed a flawless diva. But, it’s not just the fans and the cast who consider the Iron Man actor a sass queen. Even the director, Joe Russo believes the same. During an interview, following the commercial success of The Avengers film series, the director called Downey a big-time diva.
Addressing the rumors of Robert Downey Jr. demanding multiple vanity vans while shooting, Joe Russo, although laughed off the supposed entitled behavior, called the actor a real-life diva.
“He jokes about it, but you know why he does that? I think it is to play along and create a persona…He acts like a diva.”
However, despite calling out Robert Downey Jr for acting like a diva, Joe Russo purposefully praised the actor’s work ethic. The director claimed, “he is actually the hardest-working actor you will ever work with. He is exceedingly professional.” Thus, in the end, whether Downey acts like a diva or not, he certainly delivers some incredible cinematic moments for his audience.
