The James Bond of our generation, Daniel Craig, recently bid us all adieu and let’s face it, we were not ready to let go just yet. While his shoes may be too big to fill, we’ve started to hear rumblings that a couple of actors may just be too eager to do that.
Retired Superman star Henry Cavill has been a fan favorite for an incredibly long time now. His portrayal of Napoleon Solo in The Man from U.N.C.L.E gave us all a taste of what his MI6 elite agent would look like after all.
Now, the MI6 probably has to carry out another mission and neutralize the threat before it’s too late, and they have to hire someone who can take the fight to the enemy. Cavill, being a potent candidate for the role may have to test his luck again.
Is Paapa Essiedu The Frontrunner for James Bond?
Having an open slot now that Cavill is no longer the iconic Superman or Geralt could mean a lot of things. But it sure doesn’t mean that he has the Bond pie on his plate already.
Paapa Essiedu, from the hit British series Gangs of London, is rumored to be a strong contender for becoming the next 007. His performance as Alexander Dumani has fans speculating that he could take on the mantle.
It has been a strong demand from fans that future Bond be a man of color. Essiedu, with a long history of stage dramas and intense on-screen presence, could become the top dog for the role.

Is Henry Cavill Out From James Bond Race?
There has been a lot of debate as of late regarding the perfect age to cast an actor to carry the franchise forward. Henry Cavill, being 40, might have to miss out on roles because of that.
Not to mention, Daniel Craig in his first – Casino Royale was around 38 when he took the mantle from Pierce Brosnan. Paapa Essiedu however, at 33, does have a much better chance to replace Henry Cavill and keep playing the character well in his 50s.
Both Cavill and Paapa Essiedu know how to carry themselves like proper British gentlemen but it would be a historic move if the latter gets to fill the shoes of the legendary spy and be the first Bond of color.
There is no official word out on the streets yet about the casting for now. But we can expect the official statement about the new 007 recruit sometime in 2024.
