Gamescom 2023 continues to deliver on new thrilling announcements for the gaming industry. Lords of the Fallen dropped an extended story trailer that should keep fans excited. The horror elements have been kicked up a notch with more blood, gore, and freaky characters on display.
Lords of the Fallen was announced last year at Gamescom 2022, garnering support among souls-like genre fanatics. This is a reboot for the series as the original came out in 2014 with mixed reviews. Before its splash at Gamescom 2023, Lords of the Fallen has been slowly releasing new information and trailers such as a Gameplay Reveal a few months ago. The action-RPG is taking what they learned from the 2014 game and making something entirely new for this Gamescom 2022 trailer.
Lords of the Fallen’s Standout Feature
Looking at how recent souls-like games such as Elden Ring and Nioh performed, Lords of the Fallen stands out in this Gamescom 2022 trailer for its horror elements. There’s a much darker and grittier tone compared to the 2014 original. Emphasizing the horror will make Lords of the Fallen shine more in comparison to others in the genre.
In addition, the gameplay looks much tighter than the 2014 game. While the Gamescom 2023 story trailer doesn’t contain much gameplay, IGN’s 13 minute Gameplay video should give fans an idea of what’s to come in Lords of the Fallen.
If you are at Gamescom 2023, you can visit the Lords of the Fallen theatre (Hall 9, B010-C019) to experience a walkthrough of a brand new never-before-seen area of the game. The presentation will showcase new gameplay elements like the dual-realm mechanic and see what the melee, ranged, and magic combat have to offer.
