Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air: 5 Characters Who Deserved Better

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air concluded its 6 seasons run 25 years ago in 1996, and we still can’t get over some of the characters in this beloved sitcom that deserved more. These five characters had a special place in our hearts, and their endings were either rushed or too melancholic. Let’s see-

5. Tyriq Johnson. Will’s social life is presented quite lavishly throughout the series, and his friendship with Jazz and Tyriq was central for at least the first few seasons. After that Tyriq suddenly disappeared from the series very early on, and the fans are still wondering why. He was the third member of the trio with Jazz and Will, but it was like the creators focused heavily on Will and Jazz’s friendship and forgot about Tyriq.

4. Jackie Ames. The issue with divided attention given to Will’s friends still continues here with Jackie now. She was Will’s friend from Philadelphia who was also attending UCLA, and they both shared quite a witty chemistry. Their on and off cheeky flirting and insult-y humor was getting much love from the fans. But unfortunately, after that, she was just missing from almost all the action of the series for no apparent reason.

3. Even Will’s best friend Jazz had a pretty disoriented character arc, especially in the show’s later seasons. Their friendship started so strong but they kind of drifted apart when Will and Carlton went to school. Most of Jazz’s character development happened off-screen. And after his divorce from Jewel, he was just discarded like a used napkin, that once was very useful. It was like the death of his character’s arc in the show.

2. Geoffrey Butler. Taken for granted time and again, the unexpected voice of reason and humor was seldom given the narrative focus that he deserves. Being a butler in a wealthy home already meant he was an undervalued character from the start, but he deserved a little more attention. Apart from that arc when he was the center of some schemes cooked up by his son and Will, he was treated as a forgotten character.

1. Will Smith. Even the titular character deserved more, isn’t it funny? Unfortunately, this character was given a very downbeat ending by the producers. In the end, he was left all alone while the rest of the characters moved to the East Coast. He was the only member of the Banks-Smith family left on the West Coast, and it was a relatively downer ending for an American sitcom.

This show is as memorable as it can be, but if these characters were given a little more attention, it would have been an even greater sitcom than most other sitcoms of recent times.
