If there’s one other reason behind people loving entertainment by WWE so much besides the fights, it is the personal feuds that the wrestlers hold with each other. With each one being a little bit more entertaining than the other, some of the most notably famous discords include that of Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock with Paul Michael Levesque aka Triple H.
Although this fight never made it to the ring back when The Rock was still a professional wrestler, now that he has returned to the ring, it seems that Triple H holds another chance to have the WrestleMania moment with Dwayne Johnson that he has always yearned for.
Triple H Holds Only One Regret With Dwayne Johnson AKA The Rock
Triple H is one of the greatest professional wrestlers in the WWE. A fourteen-time World Champion, he now holds the authority of the Chief Content Officer of WWE as well. But it doesn’t end here: he also had a rivalry with Dwayne Johnson.
In an interview with Logan Paul on Impaulsive, he revealed his one and only regret with The Rock.
“My only regret of the whole thing with Rock is in 2000, we were poised to have a match at WrestleMania one-on-one,” Triple H shared. “I think that would’ve been an epic thing for both of us in that moment.”
However, because of the duration of Stone Cold Steve Austin and Undertaker’s returns, their WrestleMania showdown ended up getting scrapped, leaving both of them sad and intensely bitter over their protracted feud.
But now, with The People’s Champion’s return to WWE after four years, it seems that the star’s former enemy just might get another chance at getting the WrestleMania moment he so yearns for.
Dwayne Johnson’s Match With Roman Reigns That Was Axed
Besides Triple H, Dwayne Johnson was also big in talks regarding his potential match with Roman Reigns, who is also his real-life cousin. In a recent interview on The Pat McAfee Show, he revealed how A WrestleMania match between the pair was locked. He said,
“The Rock headlining WrestleMania with Roman Reigns, SoFi Stadium, that was locked. We were doing it. […] A match, great. Roman, [an] incredible athlete. He’s gonna be on Mount Rushmore. Super handsome, good dude, my cousin, family. Amazing. We can have the match, but the bigger thought was, what can do for the fans and the business that love, where WrestleMania isn’t the end of something, it’s actually the beginning of something bigger.”
However, in pursuit of something ‘bigger’ to give their fans, their match ended up never happening, even though the pair was super close to it.
“So we got really, really close, but we couldn’t actually nail what that thing was. So we decided to put our pencils down. We agreed, ‘Hey, listen, there’s a merger coming up, eventually that will happen. There’s WrestleMania in Philadelphia.’ [raised his eyebrow] I’m saying that’s a potential too. I’m open [to it]. I’m open.”
Judging from his comment, there just might be something very interesting heading toward fans, presumably something that fans have been longing for for quite some time.
