A lot is happening over at the DC Studios. From James Gunn and Peter Safran’s appointment as co-CEOs to Henry Cavill’s removal, to the new slate for the DCU, things have been a bit rocky. Amidst all that, Warner Bros. will soon be celebrating its 100 year anniversary on April 04, 2023. As a part of the celebration, Christopher Reeve’s Superman movies will be released as a five-movie bundle.
While Henry Cavill’s name is the first to come up in fans’ minds whenever Superman is brought up, we cannot possibly forget the iconic portrayal of the Kryptonian superhero by the late Christopher Reeve. Therefore, Warner Bros. is finally giving the actor’s fans a chance to proudly display Christopher Reeve’s run as Superman on their shelves. However, is this the studio’s way of putting out the fire caused by the Henry Cavill fiasco?

The Legacy of Christopher Reeve’s Superman
Christopher Reeve was the perfect Superman. He played the character with an excellence that captured Clark Kent’s humble personality with perfection. He was so dedicated to the character that when he was advised to wear a muscle suit to fit the typical image of a superhero, he refused. From there on, Reeve decided that he would work on his body and build the muscles himself. Working with his trainer, her gained thirty pounds for the role!
Reeve’s Superman proved that superheroes don’t have to be tough all the time. The way he brought out the character’s vulnerable side is loved by all, even to this day. He could very easily transition from Clark Kent to Superman and back, making it seem like child’s play.
However, the best thing about Reeve is that he wasn’t just a hero on-screen, but in reality too. After suffering from a horrific horse-riding accident, Reeve was paralyzed from below his neck. However, that did not dim his spirit as he became an advocate for those living with disabilities. The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation has raised tens of millions of dollars for important and helpful research.
Even though he passed away at the age of 52 on October 10, 2004, his legacy as both a reel-life and real-life superhero stays with his fans, even today.
You can stream Christopher Reeve’s Superman on HBO Max.
