People learn from their mistakes. The 2021 film starring Timothée Chalamet and helmed by director Denis Villeneuve also had a major mistake that needed to be corrected. Luckily, with the sequel of Dune looming on the horizon, the actor publicly stated that the mistake would not happen again.
During the promotion of Dune, Zendaya’s character had been used majorly in trailers and posters. Well, she wasn’t given too much screen time in the movie which made several people angry and disappointed. With Florence Pugh in the sequel, Timothée Chalamet promised that the same thing shall not be repeated.
Timothée Chalamet Doesn’t Want To Have Florence Pugh For A Cameo
Based on the books by Frank Herbert, the novel has a plethora of characters with both major and minor roles to play in the timeline of the book. Portraying the role of Chani, Zendaya accompanied Timothée Chalamet’s character of Paul Atreidis throughout the whole seven minutes while she was on-screen!
Several fans were angry and felt cheated due to the excessive amount of footage of Zendaya played over and over to lure fans to the movie. In the sequel, Florence Pugh is attached to the role of Princess Irulan who is essentially the narrator of the whole movie. In the books, the role of Irulan is kept very short but The King actor Timothée Chalamet stated that they did not want to waste such a special talent like Florence Pugh for a mere cameo!
“Florence is really special. She’s an incredible actor. She was incredible in Dune — seriously incredible. She brought a gravitas to the role [of Princess Irulan].”
Well, it isn’t all bad news for the people as Timothée Chalamet revealed that Zendaya might also get plenty of screentime as she is not reportedly done with the Dune universe.

Although in his interview with Variety, the actor majorly talked about how amazing Florence Pugh is, Chalamet also talked about his on-screen partner Zendaya. Stating that she will bring exactly what she brought into the first film but in greater abundance, Chalamet gave people hope that The Greatest Showman actress might also not get wasted in the sequel.
“She hasn’t wrapped yet, and it’s amazing. She’s bringing exactly what she brought to the first one — which was incredible — but in greater abundance. And she’s really become a sister. I’m so grateful to count her as a partner and a sister and a friend,”
With the first film receiving 10 Oscar nominations, the sequel, titled Dune: Part Two is set for a release date of 3rd November 2023 in theaters across the U.S. As for Dune, the 2021 film is available to stream on Max.
