Gaining fame from portraying Don Draper in the TV series Mad Men, Jon Hamm has continued to captivate his fans on both small and big screens. With his striking good looks, undeniable talent, and charismatic presence, the actor has emerged as one of the most recognizable faces in the industry. However, it still isn’t enough for the Baby Driver actor to get out of the awkward scenes that turned out to be uncomfortable not only for him but also for his co-star.
Something similar happened while filming an intimate scene with actress Kristen Wiig for the 2011 romantic comedy Bridesmaids. Hamm later opened up about how he managed to figure out a way to go through it.
Jon Hamm Talks About Filming an Awkward S*x Scene
Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig starred in Paul Feig’s 2011 movie Bridesmaids. The film follows Annie, who goes through a series of misfortunes after her friend asks her to be her maid of honor. It was received very well at the box office and by critics as well, who praised the cast of the film for their performance.
Hamm, who portrayed Annie’s partner in the movie, later talked about filming an intimate scene with his co-star. He shared that he had to wear a flesh-colored thong while filming the s*x scene, which only added to the awkwardness of the whole thing.
“I mean, sure, there’s an awkwardness about being in a weird flesh-colored thong, bouncing on top of an actress,” he shared. It did not end with that only, as he also shared, “It’s like running in the rain. There’s a certain point where you go, ‘F*ck it, I’m already wet.”
However, he still tried to make sure that his co-star was comfortable. Hamm shared that he told the Wonder Woman 2 actress to punch him if she felt that he was hurting her. However, the Top Gun: Maverick actor also said that while it is uncomfortable at first, the awkwardness slowly melts away.
Jon Hamm Was Not Hesitant to Star in Bridesmaids
Being starred in shows and movies like Mad Men and The Town, Jon Hamm has had a reputation for playing dramatic roles. So when he was offered to star alongside Kristen Wiig in the 2011 romantic comedy, he instantly said yes.
Despite having several appearances, Hamm reportedly has an uncredited role in Bridesmaids. And he was not bothered by it at all. He also shared that his agent was worried about the payment and asked him, “How do we, you know, ask for money?”
But the Mad Men star just wanted to enjoy and have fun with his friends and told his agent not to worry about it. “Don’t worry about it. It just, let me let go have fun with friends,” he shared. Hamm also mentioned that at the time, no one knew that Bridesmaids would be a huge hit it was, but he knew it would be funny.
Along with its performance at the box office, Paul Feig’s 2011 movie also landed two Oscar nominations for Best Supporting Actress and Best Original Screenplay at the 84th Academy Awards.
Bridesmaids is available on Hulu.
