Fans Aren’t Happy with the Decision of Lilo in Lilo & Stitch

Recently, it was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter that Maia Kealoha will be alongside Zach Galifianakis in the remake of the fan-favorite 2002 animated movie. The young actress doesn’t have any screen credits but she has appeared in several Little Miss Kona Coffee pageants. However, the fans of the movie were divided when they gave their opinion on the appointment of the young actor in the movie.

Another user states that the young girl would be very unlucky because she would be working alongside the ugliest looking “space rodent” because Disney has the worst CGI.

Another fan of the movie stated that although the young actress is adorable, fans are not interested in watching a live-action Lilo & Stitch remake.

Another fan had a positive reaction to the casting choice for the movie, but they wonder if the young actor could showcase the personality of the animated character.

Another fan points out that if Disney can execute the film carefully, the film would be an entertaining watch.

Another fan was positive about the casting choice but they were against the idea of another Disney remake from the early 2000s.

Disney remakes are often negatively received by the fans because they lack creativity and originality two of the many key qualities which Disney promotes in their film. Moreover, the fans are disappointed by the remakes because it tends to water down the original story, and tends to affect the nostalgia associated with the original film. But most importantly, fans hate these remakes because of the casting decisions. Even though some fans are taking the appointment of Maia Kealoha positively, most of them are not happy with this decision.

Why is There No Buzz for Lilo & Stitch Remake?

While the animated version of Lilo & Stitch is very close to the Disney fans, the same fans are not happy with the live-action film based on the same story as the animated film. The fans have always hated remakes for numerous reasons and the previous remakes have suffered the wrath of the audience, and it looks like Lilo & Stitch would be the new targets.

Lilo & Stitch

The first problem with the remake of an animated film is that in the animated version of the film, fans are entertained by catchy visuals and well-executed storylines. However, with the use of CGI, the live-action film butchers the adorable characters, making them too hideous or creepy to watch. Moreover, one of the key reasons that Disney remakes fail to entertain the audience is because it is a frame-for-frame copies of the animated film.

Had the remake deviated from the source material to find new plot characters and storylines, then the live-action movies would have escaped the troubled formula of failure. Due to these reasons, there is no hype or buzz for the Disney remake.
